The Eastbound & Down finale was awesome. Not much to say about it except that it was a great cap for one of the funniest shows in history.

Girls was pretty good too. The previews were funny, but then I watched Tiny Furniture this weekend out of curiosity and it sucked infinite nards so I got worried (kinda Me & You & Everyone We Know-ish, so big thumbs down), but the show turned out to be pretty funny. It was kinda girl-centered Whit Stilman-lite, but that's much preferable to Miranda July-lite.

Caught up on the last few episodes of Grimm. They're slowly, but surely fixing all the problems with this show.

Consistently putting out A-level episodes again and again.

Yeah, it's still not a FRINGE I-must-see-it-NOW level of good, but I have been impressed with the improvement. I long considered this the underdog compared to ONCE UPON A TIME, no more.

OUAT is the saddest failure on TV right now. All they had to do was cut a deal with Willingham for Fables and put that up on the TV. Insta-millions - even if they cleaned up some of the Prince Charming or Totenkinder stuff. The best thing about Fables is that the CGI stuff wouldn't even be needed for a while, they could see if the story had legs in a cheaper fashion than they are doing now.

TV execs are mostly like monkeys flinging fruit at a wall and seeing what sticks and what doesn't.

^^This. A thousand times this. OUAT is a terrible failure...but enough people (my gf and her sister included) will keep watching and the bloody thing will get a second season...that it doesn't deserve.

I agree with Amph...they should have paid Willingham for FABLES as the story is a hell of a lot more compelling, believable and would have raked in viewers.

In fact, if one of the other networks was REALLY smart, they'd snap up FABLES now and put OUAT out of business with higher quality.

Been watching BBC's LUTHER. Sweet merciful shit but Idris Elba is a damned revelation! He is such a damn fine actor.

Loving LUTHER so far (finished first Series). It's kind of like Sherlock Holmes, if Sherlock was mentally unstable to the point that he could lash out or snap at any moment, who loves, and who will break the law to see justice done. It's visceral, compelling, and utterly impressive.

They've apparently commissioned a 3rd series as well.

There are some great characters in the show as well. I thought Alice was genuinely creepy, and I like the honest endeavour of the young sidekick, Ripley. The antagonists for series two were very good also. Two main cases each taking 2 episodes, with the longer arc running over the entire 4 episodes dealing with his personal issues, and the fallot from series one. All in all, great stuff.

Just finished Series 2 tonight. AMAZING! You're right, even better overall than Series 1. I liked the two-episode/per villain formula, mixed with Luther dealing with his own internal/on the down low struggles.

And ending the 2nd series on the same dialogue beat as the first one? Genius!

I'm really pleased that the Beeb commissioned a 3rd Series. They'd be stupid not to. Probably the best police procedural I've ever watched! Love it.

I love Idris Elba...perhaps it's finally time I sat down and watched THE WIRE.

Note: Perhaps it's just Ruth Wilson's resemblance to Felicia Day, but I kind of have a crush on her...LOL...which makes watching Alice a totally surreal experience.

I borderline despise the show, few shining moments notwithstanding, but the Ladybyss is right into it and i've made her watch enough genre tv crap that i have no moral high ground to challenge this remaining in our viewing roster.

I am convinced that the show drew in a massive fanbase of males who were hoping for FABLES but ended up hanging onto their girlfriends, wives and mothers.

I'm now miles behind on ONCE UPON A TIME now but can't really muster the enthusiasm to watch it considering the reaction here (I watched the first 4 or 5 eps before getting bored).

However, I did just catch the most recent episode of GRIMM and the show keeps improving. They've done a great job of incrementally building the storylines so nothing feels forced, or too contrived (which is especially good going for such a fantastical story). I'm really looked forward to seeing where they take the story next season, since it has already been renewed.

Amazing how sharply the trajectories of these two shows went in opposite directions from their pilots.

I'm four episodes in of six made so far and I quite like it.

In short it is about a group of woman who are working in a munition's factory during World War II and their life outside of the factory.

Re: OUAT, I've never seen it and I don't plan to, but I've seen commercials for the last couple weeks and the child actor featured in it seems like the absolute worst. Apparently it's the kid who left Mad Men over January Jones, but if I was her I'd have hated this kid too. A real pro-choice poster child.

I have been telling people ever since she first showed up in Season 1 that the woman Ted would end up with who really was his kids mother was Victoria (Ashley Williams)...and the Season 7 finale shows them getting back together...and with the series on its way out with Lily and Marshall having a baby (named Marvin Waitforit Erikson) and Barney's wedding (to apparently Robin!) showing up in the finale...it seems apt they'd be setting up Ted's swan song about who the kids mother really is. Anyways, it feels nice to be right about it after all this time

Oh and the use of Cat Steven's THE WIND was dirty pool, but got me emotional nonetheless.

Victoria can't be the mother. There are a multitude of reasons for this:

1. Ted's future wife was sitting in the first university class he taught.
2. She is/was roommates with Rachel Bilson's character while Victoria would have been living with her fiancé at the time.
3. Ted meets his wife at Barney's wedding and not before then.

There have been a lot of other little hints that also exclude Victoria including Ted taking the mother's yellow umbrella at a bar (when Victoria would have been in Germany). Personally I think Barney's half sister will end up marrying Ted: she's currently away at school (that explains points 1 and 2), she would definitely be at Barney's wedding, and if she's the mother it makes far more sense for future Ted to call his friends "Uncle" Barney and "Aunt" Robin because they would be in-laws.

Of course I could be entirely wrong. But it's still not Victoria!
