So now it's totally official. NBC has passed on David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman show, once and for all.
The script was apparently awful and test screening of the pilot were met with only lukewarm approval. I fully expected this after the backlash about the sleepover party-esque script and the horrific porn/Halloween costume.
I'm glad this never got of the ground for Kelley...trying to turn WW into a version of Ally McBeal was effing annoying from the minute I heard about it....This should be done in a film, and with a GOOD director and a script that actually pays attention to the origin story from the comics.

I just saw that, while hardly a surprise, LIE TO ME and HUMAN TARGET have both been cancelled. ...
Not a surprise on either one. LIE TO ME was yet another crime procdural, albeit with a sometimes fun lead, but esentially CSI: HOUSE. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. Similarly i was surprised they gave HUMAN TARGET as many episodes as they did... it was really, really lame and the supposedly over-the-top action was just tv trying to do movie action and failing.

What's astounding is that it took this long. Most of us predicted that when we got the first look at the lead in the costume.
The less said about slumber parties and Beyonce songs, the better. Outside of animation, this concept has no legs. Pun intended.
I remain shocked that THE EVENT hasn't been cancellated yet. Suppose they're delaying to at least keep the viewers (all six of us) around for the last ep.
Dunno if it's a joke or not, but press is saying Ashton Kutcher will step into Sheen's spot on 2.5 Men. I didn't watch the show in the first place and i won't if it's true, but if it is that's a perfectly lovely 'fuck you Charlie' from NBC.

Which really shouldn't surprise anyone....

Just watched For A Few Paintballs More, God that show is so hilarious, why is it not out on DVD yet here? I must have them so I can endlessly quote and harass people with scenes from the show like I currently do with Arrested Development! There is so much to pick up on second and third viewings.

Community is so awesome it is hard to explain just how awesome it is. Abed as Han Solo? Fuck. And. Yes.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I've been flat on my ass sick the past coupla days, so I watched Season 1 of BSG on DVD.
Minus the abortion that was the miniseries, of course. I just try to pretend that doesn't exist.
Those episodes still hold up as great TV. Even the ones I'm not too keen on, are WAY better than anything else out there now.
I think a full-series re-watch is in order.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I'm trying to make a list of DVD box sets I need to get and I'd like to get the full run of One Piece - one of the few shows I would ever consider to be as good as The Wire in its own way - in its original Japanese with English subtitles.
The problem I'm having is that I don't know which of the various sets to get - as there's an English dubbed set by 4Kids and another redubbed set by a different company and so on. Confused the hell out of me.
So can you guys help me find out where I can get a voice-in-Japanese, subtitles-in-English box set of One Piece online?

Just watched the season finale of THE MENTALIST. Lots of scheming, and red herrings left and right trying to make you think whodunnit. And then of course a big curveball at the finish, the repercussions of which will spill over into next season.
A pretty satisfying finale I must say. Mostly for the conclusion.

Just watched the first two eps of The Shadow Line, a noir thriller that's just finished a seven episode run on the Beeb (UK viewers can see it on iplayer till the end of the week). Hugely enjoyed it so far; the first episode was very good, with a few rough edges, but the second blew me away, it was brilliant. Brilliantly iconic characters, especially the crim side (the basic conciet being that it shows a murder being investigated by both sides of the law). It's in no rush to get to where it's going, and that means there's real craft involved in it; it's a class act. Highly recommended atm.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

You are in for a treat polish, I watched the final episode last Thursday and it was awesome, definitely the best thing I have watched all year. Superb acting from a top notch cast ( I predict Rafe Spall is going places after his performance in this), nice direction, pretty cinematography and a plot that whilst slow at times, is totally absorbing. It's also the only show i've watched recently that has had a satisfying ending. I can't remember exactly if he's turned up yet but you are about to meet a character called Gatehouse played by Stephen Rea. Enjoy.
Really good stuff on the beeb at the moment. Idris Elba is back in the second series of Luther and I've also been enjoying Case Histories with Jason Issacs. Good stuff.
