Finished S2 of THE 100

Well holy shit that was a hell of a season finale! All kinds of shit went down that I didn't expect. Also, Octavia's hallway fight, you know the one, where she THREW her goddamned sword into one guy, SLID across the fucking floor, pulled the sword out of that guy and slashed the other guys throat....like a goddamned ninja-kung fu master combo....holy shit that was excellent!

and we watched Ep1 of S3:

City Of Light storyline...oh man, you're so right BK. It's crap so far. I mean where are they planning to head with that? Okay, this hologram launched the oringal nukes...and she now has the nuke Jaha brought to earth as a side-effect of his missle journey...and what? The world needs cleansing again holo-lady? WTF? When they said City of Light I assumed that they were heading to a bigger settlement, possibly the remnants of an old City with skyscrapers, and a whole new rule of grounder laws ect.....nope, we are going with house in the woods with crazy hologram. Weird.

Anyways, loving the vibe of S3 so far. With the time jump, the newly christened Arkadia, the Grounder / Sky People truce holding on just barely...Jasper gone fucking insane...Clarke off on her own...ect.

Octavia's badassery is one of the reasons she's one of my favorites now. Granted, she developed those skills in a hell of a hurry but...

They haven't taken the CoL angle anywhere at all so far. Full discussion when you're all the way caught up.

Yeah, the CoL storyline seems to be aiming at a Matrix-y kind of thing. Whatever that little piece of tech that Jaha tried to give to Murphy seems to be a conduit to this fabricated world. The fact that the big, ugly bastard is dead in real life now, but still showed up to Jaha in the CoL proves it's a simulation that the hologram chick is using to fool them. If I had to guess at the storyline now, Jaha is VERY broken after losing his son, almost sacrificing himself like 3 times for the Ark crew, and ending up as not in charge and everyone basically thinking him nuts...so he went nuts. He's reaching for something. He thinks the City of Light is an easy way out from the reality of the Grounder-world that he's seen (that of the squabbling tribes, and vicious rules) he's been placed in. It's a fools arrand questline that will out eventually...but since we all know that, it's really kind of boring. ESPECIALLY juxatposed with the main Arkadia storyline finally coming to Polis (the Grounder city) and we see that the Grounder tribes are not just crazy, disciplined warrior mobs...but rather protect a huge civilization and are united under a queen who rules from a tower. I LOVE that we saw an entire episode that delved into the Grounder society at that level. Especially the bits in the main city (Abbie and Kane exploring the local population which seems to run like any other peaceful settlement might). We realize that Tricru are an outlier, a border village to what Polis represents and what Lexa rules over. I am also a HUGE fan of Mt. Weather being destroyed. It was a place of death, and horrors, and years of despicable experiments. It needed to go if Arkadia was to thrive properly. I'm SO glad that the Arkadians joined the Grounders as the 13th tribe and bent the knee. That Kane and Indra appear to be solid friends (and maybe she's even forgiven Octavia!). It appears that the Ice Nation is the new Foe of the show...and I like it because they are methodical and SUPER threatening. Anyone else note that the Ice Nation Prince who captured and brought Clarke to Lexa was the guy from BLACK SAILS? He's a great actor.

Anyways. Loving this so far this season (minus the boredom of the CoL arc...but hopefully that will wrap fast or get more interesting)...I did NOT see that ending to Ep3 coming, with Echo betraying Bell and Co. so they could turncoat and take out Mt. Weather.

Can't wait to see what's in store for us next!

The piece of tech/computer chip looking thing, Jaha did put it in his mouth, correct? Some kind of tech that can actually be ingested? I didn't make the Matrix connection, but you and BK are right on that, very similar. I also agree Jaha has lost it. He's found a savior's quest to cope with the loss of his son, and some of the decisions he was forced to make on the Ark, I think. Does anyone recognize that tower in Polis? I would think it would be the remains of a real place since Mt. Weather is real and I believe they've shown the head of the Statue of Liberty somewhere. I don't recognize the tower, though. I recognized the Black Sails captain immediately; he always stands out in a scene. Clarke's next love interest, or possibly third corner of a Clarke triangle with Lexa perhaps?

Should this show have its own thread by now, even if its mostly you, BK and me talking about it?

Two things occur here that break my heart...Raven giving Jasper his goggles back is heartwrenching. This is who he was before Mya was killed. He's not ready to go back to that yet, but the simple act of Raven and Wick giving him them back is enough to give him pause. Mark my words, when Jasper is ready to come back into the fold from Drunken/Crazy/Distraught/Mourning-Land...these goggles will be the signify-er.

But yeah, let's talk about Bell and Clarke. This fucking pulled my heart out. This is the first scene in which you KNOW. Like flat out KNOW that Bellamy loves Clarke. He's also savvy enough to know she's not there yet herself. She's got a long journey ahead of her first. He knows that, and lets her go without TOO much fuss or comment. You can see it in his eyes. He adores her. If these two don't end up together in the end I will be bereft.

Mt. Weather blowing up may be the best thing for Jasper, more than anyone else. No more visiting to dwell on memories, be they good or bad. Of course, it means Raven may never get the procedure that makes her leg right again either. As to Bellamy and Clarke: there's been something brewing there for a while but bad timing, he's busy protecting his sister, she's busy saving everyone else and then too much baggage, has gotten in the way. Bellamy's love interest in these first few episodes was doomed from the start, although I thought it would be in favor of the Grounder girl from the cage in Mt. Weather. (She's the one who betrayed them to get Weather blown up, right?) I think they're going to make us wait quite a while for B & C BECAUSE there's something so obviously there. That's what most shows do...

While looking up an unrelated show on Rotten Tomatoes, I noticed that The 100 S3 has an average rating of 8.7/10 with an 100% tomatometer rating. I did not expect a CW scifi show with trailers like this one originally had to get a score like that. I think I may have to check this out.

I'll add my two cents to what BK and QT said. I'm the last person that would've thought a supposed sci-fi show on the CW would be worth anything. But my 15 year old daughter wanted to check it out and my wife and I like that she'll actually spend time with us, even if its over tv, so we all watched. I found the concept very intriguing. I think its also a real plus when you get to binge on a show to get started. It really grabbed us right away. As the others said, there's some teen drama and a little suspended science, but its easily able to be overlooked, imo. The show is worth it.

3 episodes in to LUCIFER now, and this will now go down on my list of easy things to watch every week.

I stand by my previous comments about the show after seeing the pilot, namely that the detective is good, and the guy playing Lucifer is great when he gets angry, and can be amusing as well. There is still some unevenness to the writing/direction for his character but I think they'll gradually get better with that as the show settles down and they see what works. I think it has already improved from the pilot in that regard.

The 'explanation' of why Lucifer abdicated from Hell will make or break the show though. How long can they play out that piece of string, without the writers either tying themselves in knots, or boring us all to tears by dragging it out for too long. I'm hoping for a pre-planned 2 seasons and done strategy (which is not bloody likely)

Have started to see lots of ads for the series LIMITLESS, as ti is starting on UK tv this week i tihnk. I know that there are 12 or 13 episodes already broadcast in the US already, so is there a verdict on it's quality.

Never bothered to watch the movie, as it seemed like a very familiar sci-fi plot, and it frankly didn't strike me as much more developed as an idea than an episode of the Twilight Zone.

But strangely enough, if done well, it might actually work as the framework for a procedural (that's providing they have decent actors and writers)

What's the verdict?

The set design/location continues to be wonderful. The actors - every single one of them - are very good to great at their roles.

I disagree with the all cast wooden thing. The one I found to be flat was Penny, who was later bookended by the better Dean and Not-Amber-From-House actors. The rest were quite good, delivering some bitter dialogue well. I also cannot stop thinking of Eliot as a young Alan Cumming. Booksex was hilarious and lets us get Quentin bumping into Julia more.

The Physical House is supposed to be silly. It's how the scenes were written - although the jealousy thing is drawn out longer and deeper in the books.

The brother thing is a prelude. It was ok, but again the "rushing" of the magic acquisition occurs. Somehow, the same-y wardrobes for the Brakebills crew don't visually allow us to "see" time passing and that makes Quentin's journey a little more staid than the tattoos Julia is acquiring rapidly.

Magicians Episode 104 has Musical Therapy with a Taylor Swift song, which is a brilliant section. Abyss, you made up your mind to not like this show before you got to that.
