Anyone seen Katla on Netflix? Just finished watching it and while it was a gripping take it was pretty grim. It's kind of an Icelandic answer to Dark in that it surrounds a few families, secrets from years past are unveiled and not much makes sense for a while! Not quite as clever or confusing as Dark I must admit and I dunno if they'll be making another series but I did enjoy it.

My wife and i watched Katla a couple months ago. Had about the same opinion/reaction that you describe. Liked it quite a bit, though as you say, a bit grim. I found myself comparing it to Fortitude, which is on Amazon Prime, I think, and also takes place in a frigid, icy location in the Scandinavia region. Katla does a great job of keeping you involved to see if they will ever reveal what the actual purpose may be to what is going on. I thought they did give a pretty satisfactory impression, without spelling it out completely. The final scene of the show is eerie and does make you wonder if they will do another season. I think I would leave it where it is, personally.

Yes I don't think they need to but they left it at a point where they could if they wanted to.

Is Squid Game dubbed or is it shown with subtitles?

Netflix usually allows for either. I watched it dubbed.

Wait I totally meant subbed not dubbed. Dubbing is awful, subtitles much better!

The current season of SNL has been kind of crap, tbh. I mean, how much funny can you get from Kaitlinn Kardasheehan (that has to go down as one of the worst SNLs). BUT, the one with Jason Sudeikis this past Saturday was firing on all cylinders. Which, duh, is a slam dunk because he used to be a member. Anyway, here's some funny from the show.

And you just know they had to bring back "What up with that" Posted Image If you don't smile when Sudeikis jumps in and starts doing his dances, you should be checked for a pulse.

Season 2 of How To with John Wilson is coming this month. It's difficult to describe what this show is about, but it is odd and different in a weird and satisfying way. I guess from a 30,000 ft perspective, it starts with a topic or theme and then takes that to places of whimsy and the absurd, usually sticking the landing on something goodhearted, positive and uplifting (or just very curious and fascinating).

Finished season 3 of What We Do in the Shadows. Oh my, the show is going to be dramatically different in season 4 if they stay the course they ended it on (cliffhanger!). A bold decision for the show runners, and it's going to get weird (well, even weirder).

Dude this just came into BBC iPlayer in the UK in so happy! Will start watching with Mrs Tiste soon! May do a full rewatch first because we've forgotten a lot of it but also because it's so freaking good.

It's a riot so enjoy. I think season 3 gets even better, which is difficult to do because seasons 1 and 2 are so good.

Have one more week of Hulu free trial (I started in order to binge American Horror Story: Double Feature---hilarious, the especially first half), trying to figure out what to binge next.

Archer season 12---meh. Used to really like this show, but first few episodes of this season failed to grab my interest. Pass for now.

Normal People---female lead is very likeable, but male lead is a terrible role model (too shy/awkward).

Only Murders in the Building---okay monologues, bit corny, also bad role models.

Reservation Dogs: excellent. Probably the winner.

Haven't tried The Great yet....

ARCANE: LEAGUE OF LEGENDS....wow. This is incredibly good so far! Gorgeously animated (seriously), scored, and written. The first act (3 eps) were completely binge-worthy TV. This is far better than a chunk of the other animated stuff offered up on Netflix that I've seen.

EDIT: Re-watched them in advance of Saturday's drop of the next three eps. I'm not sure how this show is this good.

Holy shit! They are reviving the 90's X-MEN cartoon on D+ in 2023!

It's called X-MEN '97 and picks up exactly where the old show left off when it was cancelled.

I am HERE for this. One of my all time fave shows.

Tried an episode of The Great; it's okay. Charming and amusing satire, well-shot, perhaps a bit educational (or miseducational at least), but the dialogue and acting could be a bit better (though they're pretty good---just not that... y'know). First season of Reservation Dogs is only 8 episodes and I'm halfway through, so I think I'll put The Great right behind it in my queue.
