It's a YA tv show on Netflix about kids who move into a house that has magical keys that have different powers (very much so a nod to Narnia and it is even brought up). I quite enjoyed it! Okay, I've been sitting on this because I figured one of you idiot box slaves would have mentioned it by now, but I guess I have to due the heavy lifting and drop something to get the discussion started.

So, there is going to be a Fallout series (based on the video game franchise, obvi ) done by the people who did Westworld. Ok, that's a succinct tease... now go! Say something about it, please.

Netflix kept recommending me Korean Dramas...so I finally decided to give one a shot (googled what some of the best ones are). Checked out MR. SUNSHINE...A period piece that takes place early in the 20th century, as Japan occupies Korea.

And it's fucking unbelievably amazing. From score, to sets, to cinematography, to costuming, to acting...it's so damned good. If all K-Dramas are this good, I'm in for a treat. MR. SUNSHINE is 24 episodes on it's own, so I'm good for a while anyways.

Wondered what the hype was....was satisfied with the answer. Like Hollywood stuff isn't this good.

I got a bit lost too, and looked up some stuff to clarify.

So the bit that seemed to have not been explained well was that the Japanese occupation of Joseon (Korea) happens between when Yu-Jin (Eugene) left, and returns, facilitated by Wan-ik (the guy who the gunner shoots accidentally) because Joseon and the Americans would not do what he wanted, so he goes to the Japanese instead, who annex Joseon (so there's a scene where he's telling the Japanese prime minister that Joseon will be cheap to annex)...and the little bits in the middle were the kings minister who tried to help the Joseon king to avoid war with more cannons before Wan-ik ignored it...are Ae-Shin's parents, and is Ae-Shin's grandfather if the asshole noble from the forest at the beginning who told Eugene to keep his eyes on the ground as a slave; who LOOKS like the actor playing the guy who killed his parents, but it's a different guy)...the parents were freedom fighters (Righteous Army) for freeing Korea/Joseon from Japanese occupation and were the ones that Wan-ik had killed becuase someone ratted them out...so Ae-Shin has a bent towards that with the Righteous Group and grows up rebelling against her grandfather becuase she's not willing to be a "proper noble woman", so he sends her off to learn gunnery...then the two guys who hunted Yu-Jin for the old bastard at the beginning had to give up being slave finders because of a new law, and opened a shop instead. The old bastards grandson (the one that killed Yu-Jin's parents) Hee-Sung is shown with the grandfather before he sets out for Japan to learn the ways of diplomacy. Apparently this old bastard is one of the richest in Joseon, and is really quite close to the king in status...

So yeah, it's a bit convoluted and rushes over some stuff so I was a bit lost....but most of that boiled down to 3 different time periods in that first episode, glossing over the Japanese occupation quickly and I missed it (Ae-Shin mentions it in her initial narration), and my confusion that two of the noblemen Go (Ae-Shin's grandfather; guy from forest at the beginning), and Hee-Sung's Grandfather who doesn't have a name yet...who killed Yu-jin's parents at the beginning...resembled each other to a staggering degree and since the one guy is purposely not named, I was led astray thinking Ae-Shin was related to the guy who killed Yu-Jin's parents, but he's not.

There is one more flashback-time period thing in Episode 3 to help introduce another character, but it's much easier to follow.

You'll also get a better handle on the characters as it goes on to be honest. I'm done Episode 3 now and I'm even more into this than I was before. Great show! Hope you continue to enjoy it.

I really enjoyed the movie Snowpiercer. It is excellent. When I heard there was going to be a television series, I was fan boy excited. I couldn't get into the television show though, and I really wanted to. It seemed like it was going to be a season long (10 hour long episodes) to get to the bottom of a murder. In fact, it seemed like the show might actually end on a cliff hanger and continue the mystery into the second season. I stopped watching after episode 3.

Yes, Jennifer Connelly is shockingly, to a disturbing degree, very skinny. Like there is possibly a disorder there, yeah?

Finished MR. SUNSHINE. It was really solid throughout, a bit overly slow at parts (but then the whole show was a slow burn intentionally), but the drama and history and acting really hammered it home into a solid thing. The last few eps are harrowing, and the ending was really well done.

Up next in the K-Drama category, probably ITAEWON CLASS, which gets really high marks from people...and it's not historical, as I feel I need a break before KINGDOM because I need as more modern show for now.

Finally got around to watching the last season of Preacher. The prior season was pretty lame, but this last season has been the bees knees. So much absurd has been going down my head is spinning.

If there ever is a live-action MBoTF series, the actor who plays Herr Starr would be a perfect Kallor.
