Community is awesome. Better than most of the b-s that gets tossed around here.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Just got to see the first few episodes of FLASHFORWARD, and I quite like what i've seen so far. Makes me think of a cross between Lost (can we fight fate) and Odyssey 5 (can we change history). Just hoping that they actually have a finite endpoint in mind, and get to show it (say, maybe 2 seasons and resolve the story). I really hope it doesn't drag on like Lost for 3 full seasons before they start to try and pull things together.

I have already found the reactions of some of the main characters a bit annoying though which could hinder future viewing pleasure. Please lets this be a good show.

On a related note, delighted to see Fringe back up and running too. Glad to see they're still dropping the hints of the long story arc along with the mystery of the week.

Will hopefully get to see the new season of Dexter soon as well.

I need to get back into Fringe. I don't know why but I fell out of watching that. I might be missing something for the big arc but the monster of the week should still be easily enjoyed.

Have to agree about Flashforward, i'm enjoying it but also have the fear about it going on for too long. They should slap a 3 season limit on these things as i've lost count of the number of shows that have got steadily more craptastic with each "new" season of fillers and plot fails ( Prison Break, My Name is Earl, X-Files etc etc)

Fringe is awesome ! I completley missed this show first time around and have just watched all 20 epidodes of season 1 over 4 days on catch up TV. Completley hooked, I love Dr Bishop and fear I may end up like him, only not as clever.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

I have been watching Defying Gravity. It is going to get cancelled pretty soon, I'm sure. It is absolutely awful but I can't switch it off, it is currently the highlight of my tv week (which when you live alone is a very important thing). It is like a crappy soap opera in space. Basic plot:

Astronauts on a mission to Venus (all inexplicably sexy (tv sexy, not actually sexy))
Flashbacks through astronaut training/selection (read: lots of opportunities for tv sexy people to tv shag while doing the worst impersonations of brainy science people ever)
Flashbacks reveal sexual tension between astronauts on spaceship (read: keep watching because they might all shag (there has already been zero G shagging)

The only plot hook is some mysterious extra terrestrial intelligence secretly guiding the mission that only a few people at ground control know about (I expect people at ground control are going to start shagging soon too).

Last nights episode was primarily about them getting used to their libido suppression hormone patches because mission control doesn't want them shagging in space. Seriously, an episode about libido suppression hormone patches masquerading as science fiction. Like I said, absolutely awful but I fucking love it so far.

First of all, you need to see more of Mr PigDog, actually by the sounds of this, all of him. Immediately.

What is the difference?

Based on my own knowledge of physicists, the fact that they are shagging at all, already means they are doing a fairly poor impersonation of brainy science people.

TV sexy are those people who are toned to the point of looking like plastic clones and you can appreciate that they have done well in the gym on their boring wheat free diets but they got no soul. People who choose not to eat bread can never be truely sexy. It's a fact.

Isn't DG made by the same people as Grey's Anatomy?

John Culshaw is brilliant. The Ross Kemp/Famous Five skit was hilarious!

You could tell he'd put a lot of work into his impressions - I thought his Adrian Chiles was pretty much flawless, and most of the others were spectacularly high quality too. However, the less said about his co-star the better - I thought she was abysmal in comparison. I particularly liked the Austen to Ashes sketch (though pretty much anything where he was doing a straight impression was very high quality with the possible exception of Eamon Holmes...)

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Y'know, between FRINGE, FLASHFORWARD, V, and (one out of every three eps or so of) HEROES, i'm having an tremondous 'on season' with genre tv just now.

Am i missing anything good? Anyone? Thoughts?

- Abyss, won't get into DOLLHOUSE but it's sort of in there too...

Apparently AMC's 6 part remake/mini-series of the 60's seminal classic, The Prisoner aired the other night.

Pretty good cast with Jim Caviezel as Number 6 and Ian Mckellen as Number 2, did anyone see it ?

Respek to AMC who in their infinite wisdom and generosity have put all 17 episodes of the original series on their site,

If you've not seen it, I can't recommend it highly enough. It is very trippy and leaves you with more questions than answers !

It was arguably the forerunner of shows like Lost and any Big Brother/State/Conspiracy show that has come since and even then that's not really describing what it's about !

I have a day off tomorrow, my ass will be glued to the settee although I may have to move to empty the ashtray. Posted Image

My laptop will be attatched to my forehead with screws, my arms attached to the wheelchair,my mouth sealed with rubber bands. My only means of communication will be the complex eye flutter technique I have been teaching a sparrow for the last 6 months.....

I saw this for the first time last night and I agree! Thing is, the cast is actually pretty good with the second Lt from Band of Brothers and that blonde girl who was evil in 24 (Season 2 or 3, iirc) but I enjoyed it. Struck me as a slow burner and I quite like that. Sadly I have no idea what episode I watched or how far into the series we are. It was the one where the girl lost her thumb.
Victory is mine!
