He did his job, that's for sure. I wasn't guess I wasn't swayed so much by his flash and rhetorical skill (clearly impressive, but I mean I thought OJ was guilty even back then in real time), but even a guilty guy shouldn't be railroaded by the genuinely racist, genuinely sickeningly corrupt LAPD. Anyway, hope to finish the back half of the season in the next couple days, which should help refresh my memory more.

Unless we are talking about specifically Furhman, then you can't speak for the entire LAPD, that was Jonnie's thing though, part of his "show"...show them a horrible racist (Furhman) and then use that to convince them the entire LAPD was corrupt and rife with racists...which could not be said/proven of anyone else who worked the case (I'm sure Jonnie and Co. looked, believe me). I'm not saying there weren't others (I've heard tell the LAPD especially in the 90's they had a problem)...but the idea that the entire force was rotten with it is just a dream. But that was Jonnie's dog and pony show. It was his slight of hand to make you not look at the glaring evidence. Did it bring police racism and corruption into the light? Sure did. And that's the ONLY thing I'll ever give Jonnnie Cochrane. That he brought that to light...but Darden was right to scold him later and say that this was NOT the place/case to make that stand. There are two victims who deserved better from their justice system.

I'll make it clear. OJ railroaded himself. I don't think the LAPD framed him at all in any way, even Furhman. By the time Furhman arrived at the crime scene it has been secured by something like 20 cops, two full hours before he arrived. The idea that he took one of two gloves from the scene (without anyone seeing) and then planted that single glove at Rockingham (and then convincing every cop who wrote a report up about the scene items to lie about it to boot) is beyond absurd. And that's in evidence. The rest of then officers who secured the scene wrote reports that only one glove was present. Beyond that Lang and Vannater replaced Furhman as lead detective a half hour into the investigation...which again shows how flimsy Jonnie's bent on him was. No one else did this TO OJ. He did this to himself.

Watched the finale of the show last night. It's completely heartbreaking.

Yah I finished it up last night. Really excellent finale. As far as the LAPD go, I'm not speaking for them, I'm speaking about them. LAPD was corrupt and rife with racists, and their policy was corrupt and racist even where individuals weren't (to a significant degree, at least, cuz let's not kid ourselves). The "few bad apples" theory was always laughable. And an organization that has betrayed the people's trust so consistently and so brutally loses its mandate. Obviously Brown and Goldman deserved justice -- unfortunately there was no legitimate policing body equipped to give it to them.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Just finished How I met Your Mother. I loved the whole series, but the ending was quite abrupt. They could have done a lot better with the ending and i'm sad its finished.

There is a Japanese Real World-like reality show on Netflix (a co-production with Fuji Television) called TERRACE HOUSE. I binge watched about 12 of the 18 eps on Sunday. It's so bad it's good territory. And not in a trashy way (they are Japanese, the best you get for anger are twitches of eyebrows or wry looks, or blunt-ish statements), and it's ALL about the romances or lack thereof within. It has no reason to be at all, but it's completely spellbinding. Even more, during every episode there is this peanut gallery of people (about 6 of them) who are watching it as well, and you get a few minutes here and there of them commenting (and they are pretty funny)...so the show is a mishmash.

But yeah. If you are at all curious about the interesting way in which a real world reality show might unfold in Japan...look no further. (also, this is the first season that was a co-prod with Netflix, but it's been on for a few seasons before this). I'm fairly obsessed with this show. It's a cultural window for sure.

Here's a snippet which includes the theme song, which is catchy AF.

Just flicking channels before night-nights and caught "Ronny Chieng: International Student".

Pretty bloody funny, but I think you have to have gone to Uni or be Australian to get some of the humour. Some of the one-liners are absolute gold though. :)

Don't normally come in here, since I don't watch a lot of TV. However I just watched the first episode of the third season of Hannibal. The Hannibal thread is for spoilers so I am avoiding it.

I missed this show. It's so weird and gruesome and unsettling. And yet this first episode was different from the other seasons. Maybe because it is the world of Hannibal with out Will Graham, primarily seen through the eyes of Gillian Andersons character.

Watching her in this episode was fascinating. That's a woman living in unending fear, I think. A nightmare she is unwilling or unable to wake up from.

Now with the second episode they reframe the finale of Season 2. I am not sure I actually want the world of America to come to Europe but we'll see where it goes.

Over the last couple of weeks, I watched the first season of Hap and Leonard, Sundance TV's first attempt to compete in the prestige drama world. It's kind of a black-comic swamp noir (set in the Texas bayou). Stars James Purefoy, Michael K Williams, and Christina Hendricks, which is obviously a top cast. It's only six episodes so nice and compact.

It is, for the most part, a nice little show to throw on when you want something not-too-demanding, moves at quite a relaxed pace, but then you get to episodes four and five where things start to come to a head and it really elevates itself. Some really good scenes and moments. So it's a show I definitely recommend.

I would link to a trailer, but it's both quite spoilery and not very representative of the show as a whole, so I won't.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Reached episode 9 of Season 3 in Hannibal.

Started really strong. Comepletely lost me in the middle.

I have to assume that the writers knew there wouldn't be a fourth season because they have completely ruined the pacing and pushed a story that should have been a 4th season into the last half of season 3. Everything feels rushed now.

I noticed something strange about episode 9. It has to be intentional but I am not sure what it's about.

Spoiler

First trailer for the Netflix VOLTRON show from the KORRA creators.

Looks fantastic! Seems like they are starting right at the beginning, before Princess Allura starts piloting the Blue Lion.

I can't see this without recalling Warren Ellis' statement:

I don't know what either of the above posts mean, but I'm gonna watch it!

Love the way cartoon villains say "Yes." like at 0:32.
