"Generation Kill" itself by Evan Wright, and also "One Bullet Away" by the Real Life Nathaniel Fick, and "War" by Sebastian Junger.

I recommend George Packer's Assassin's Gate as part of this too because it gives a very good overview of the "why" the soldiers were tearing around ineffectually like that.
It might be THE book on the second US/Iraq war and how it was doomed to a morass from the get go.
With that package of books, you will probably come out with a fairly good picture of why the wars of the last 30 years of the US govt have been terrible.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Fun fact - it wasn't supposed to be a seven part series. It was supposed to be season 1 of an ongoing series and it got shitcanned.

Everybody has their reality TV guilty pleasures. My suggestion though: if you want to wean off The Bachelor, turn to VH1.com and watch all the seasons of Tool Academy, Dad Camp, and maybe even Daisy of Love if you're still jonesing. All of the stupidity, none of the fake gloss.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I was always, always, hoping Jate would come in top overall in the show, but alas no luck.
They woulda been freaking amazing together.
