If you have Comcast you can still watch season 2 from the On Demand option. Season 2 does not disappoint. What the hell is the deal with Ziggy? What a loser. (I'm on episode 8 of season 2).

On Demand annoys me though, as it says The Wire episodes will only be available until Jan. 1. What a crock of bs.

THE KILLING seasons one and two. American version.
First of all, let's be clear... The original story is only complete at the end of s2. There is a point at the beginning of S2 where the show struggles a bit to find its feet with a whole new tone and scope, but after about three middling eps it goes right back to great. Watched as a whole, it is some fine TV. It has its flaws... I found two of the main storylines often tedious, another one just ok, but the main story of the detectives investigating a teenage girl's murder is compelling and very done. Fans of TRUE DETECTIVE will likely enjoy this element of it.

Just saw a fairly recent American Dad episode (well, comparatively, think it's a year or so old, but hadn't seen any in a while)

The episode was basically about Jeff being on a spaceship and it was bizarre, quirky, and damn good television.

Featured a tremendous musical interlude that lead to me being introduced to a band called Wax Fang.

That episode was awesome. "The Majestic"...
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

I don't think any show can top the epicness that turned into S1 of True Dectective. It was just epic even going up against BB, SoA, The Wire.

Ed I'm talking about in terms of opening seasons

I'm so nervous S2 won't hold a candle to S1. Real nervous actually.

Oh cmon it's Colin Farrell in a cop show... What could possibly go wrong?

Musketeers (BBC series) has returned for its second season.

Unsurprisingly, Cardinal Richeleu (Peter Capaldi) has had to be written out due to his time travelling escapades - so the Beeb have brought in Rochefort (Marc Warren) to fill the hole.

Good times.

Some potentially good telly happening this week - Galavant starts tomorrow, which I'm genuinely looking forward to, and then on Tuesday a double helping of Marvel's Agent Carter, which looks very good and has a fantastic cast.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Did anyone here watch the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures this year. Were they any good? They were outstanding science education lectures depending on that year's guest lecturer. We used to be able to watch them when i was younger over the christmas holidays. Wondering if they're worth tracking down?

Please post about Galavant after viewing. I've been curious about it, but am worried the musical aspect will be annoying.

Blitzed through 5 eps of Netflix MARCO POLO and though it started a little slowly, it got up to pace quickly and is REALLY really good.

The clothing for both the Chinese and the Mongols is accurate for the era, as are (so far) the adherence to the Steppe nomads horse bowmen past.

Liking it a great deal, and will be watching the rest of the series. A few critics have been exceptionally hard on it...but honestly I've not seen a production about the middle aged east be this accurate and this well cast and be this entertaining.

Worth a look.

Further to this I must needs add season 3 is brilliant. 4 brings the series to a satisfying enough end, but 3... Damn.

I think I made 3 episodes into that before I gave up. I didn't like it at all.

You made it one more than me.

Recently marathoned THE KNICK .... I could have done with little more medical and character development, and a touch less mindless racism and cocaine addiction. But overall very enjoyable.

Got caught up on ARROW... that finale... Fuck.
Gave up on GOTHAM and deleted the season. I just cannot work up any enthusiasm for the concept.
Looking fwd to AGENT CARTER, and the return of BLACK SAILS and THE AMERICANS in Jan/Feb.

The upcoming adaptation of Wolf Hall could be worth a look. Damien Lewis at least resembles Henry, unlike Rhys Myers from The Tudors. And if it's good there's always Bringing Up The Bodies to follow.

Caught up with The Flash, which has fast (ha) become very watchable. Unlike Sleepy Hollow, which I still haven't got up to date with... and may not at this rate.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

^^I have it bought on iTunes and it downloaded onto my iPad overnight...now I'm sat at work awaiting going home to watch it!

Also, while we are in the TV thread, I am also excited for AGENT CARTER. I feel like the self contained mini-series is a great way to bridge us to the next season of AoS. Plus, as a mini it has a better chance at a larger budget?

I have to finish MARCO POLO (wife has been stomach ill for a week and we haven't got a chance to finish it yet).

It sounds like SLEEPY HOLLOW has replaced the villain (Moloch being gone now) with an archangel named Orion....let's hope this leads to a new creative direction for the show and possibly to better stories.

Galavant has a Princess Bride vibe, which is good. The lyrics in some of the songs have induced laughs, which is good. Overall, kind of meh though, but interesting and funny enough for me to check in next week.

Yeah, I enjoyed Galavant, although I've found the first two episodes a bit slight somehow- I think because the songs mean there's effectively less runtime to deal with the plot and other jokes and such.

I think my enjoyment was also affected by the previews and reviews spoiling most of the best material in the first two episodes though. I'm gonna ignore everything from now on so hopefully the surprise factor will make next week funnier for me.
