Currently on my 4th reread of the series. I just ordered TtH from Amazon.co.uk and it'll be hard to have that book in my bookshelf while I finish the others that lead to it (currently in MoI) but this series in complex and good enough to warrant a periodical reread.

I was on a re read of Midnight tides but since tuesday ive put it aside and have been wading my way through Toll. On completion of Toll i will go back to Midnight tides and continue with my re read with a second reading of Toll at the end.

Ahem.....

I do have a life really. Isnt that right brother D.I.B

But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

I first came to the series around the time Midnight Tides was out and we were waiting for tBH. So read those 5 in sequence and kept polling the internets to see when #6 comes out (I was in India, so it never did)

Then I travelled to the US and tBH came out... so I did a re-read to catch up.

Followed by another 'timeline based' reread around the time RG came out - essentially read the series in this order: MT > GoTM > DG > MOI > HoC > NoK > tBH > RG

So I guess the answer for me is yes... This time around though I don't have time for a reread... and I have RoTCG to follow... so depending on forums.

I guess my next full reread will be around the time tCG comes out :D

I decided to do a re-read before TtH, just finished the SE stuff and had about 20 pages left of NoK before it turned up today. Cant wait any longer, so NoK can wait until TtH has been read multiple times. Now, if you'll excuse me, Im off to savour it's delicious flavour. :D

Still a large amount of fantasy I haven't ready but want to. As much as I'd like to re-read the series, I'd still prefer something new then a repeat,

Besides constant discussion here serves to keep my memories of events refreshed and things I missed are often brought up for discussion, making me aware of them.

However this is a bit of a double edged sword scenario for me since i've accepted false statements as truth and got myself in a right mess a few times.

You know, I've never had a series that has had such a "re-readability" factor as this one. Well, maybe Harry Potter.

Since I discovered Erikson thanks to a Salon.com article back in 2004, I've been in a near-constant state of read and re-read. This is very uncommon for me. Perhaps it's because the series stimulates me on an intellectual level that I just don't usually get in high fantasy.

As with others, I'm currently part way through my re-read of MT. Haven't decided if I'll continue to RG before reading TtH. Likely not.

Don't re-read every time a new book comes out, but couldn't possibly remember everything from 1 read, especially the speed I usually read at, which is about 100 miles an hour. I've tried really hard to slow down...and I guess old age is helping there, but still couldn't manage without the annual refresher.
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

In my experience the speed at which you read has a great effect on your long term memory of the material. I have the ability to read fast, but I don't because then I would forget most of it by the next year.

That's my big problem. That, and I blew out my memory back in '01. I get around it with multiple rereads.

Well that was sort of my point . I know I should read slowly, then I can absorb and retain more of the detail - negating the need for rereads. If you have the self control to read slowly then that's good...me I have very little self control, or will power, or anything else that resembles self discipline - I save all MY discipline for others :p

I've never reread Malazan. I just don't enjoy rereads. Do you reread?

And if i was to reread one book before tth which one should it be?

MOI or Reapers Gale?

I re-read 1-6, but had just started RG when I got the ship notice for TtH. Just received it today in the US after it shipped from the UK. I'll have to do the re-read for RG after I mow down TtH, and then probably re-read TtH for good measure.
