But wtf happened to Walter there? He's been sneaking all over the place for two seasons, meeting with observers, drugging Astrid and whoever to work his mad scientist mojo... hell, he even stole a gun once to go hunting for grizzly/scorpian/wasp/eagle thingy. So what was up with this waaaah i'm out of busfare crap??? GVE ME BACK MY MAD SCIENTIST WALTER YOU NETWORK IMBECILES. That is all.

And clearly Astrid flunked the FBI self-defence training course with flying colours. I was so expecting her to unload whupass on the tong guys and instead, MORE CRYING. Coulnd't they at least have had Jean save her or something?

Loved the fringe science plot, derivative as it was. The Walter subplot here was weak.

Brain tissue kept alive in other peoples brain tissue... Freaking awesome...Plus Surprise surprise its walters. Explains so much about Walter.

Oh they were such nice people and had good manners while they were opening up my brain to remove a piece in there. Love it. Subtle hints that we are going to see the other Walter soon. More Astrid fails as a FBI agent. But SO much Walter that not only did it make up for the SQUIDWORMS but it also opened up the door to so much more fringe science. I am still waiting to see how Olivia's powers from last season will be utilized this season.

When Walter wakes up and has access to all of his brain. He is a very different Walter. I liked it. I would expect the other Walter to be like that.

Strong Walter plot and strong Fringe plot.

Great episode.

That brief glimpse of Evil Walter was excellent. How does John Nobel not win all the Emmys every i do not understand.

Olivia had a strong moment taking out the two shapeshifters with headshots. Best line... "You so much as twitch and you won't have a head to refreeze." For a minute i thought she was going to shoot him in the leg or something and force the antidote sequence but not surprisingly she took the save lives route.

I love how they are making William Bell so ambiguous.

Seriously, for a dead old plot device - virus infects people, people locked in building, must find cure before military torches the place for the greater good - the cast did a rock solid job with this. Astrid and Walter stole the show this time. Astrid being told they had ten minutes to d-day, she looks at Walter who is basically having a nervous breakdown, and just responding with 'Walter will figure something out.' was perfect. And their exchange at the end about 'letting Peter die again' was just creepy Walter goodness.

Last weeks was brilliant with the Nazi scientist who hadn't aged a day since the war. Brilliant way to target people a genetic attack that suffocates people who have a specific trait...ie... brown eyes or belong to one specific family. Brilliant.

Did you see the pictures at the end when Walter is supposedly looking at his fathers pics from before the war (Looked a lot like Walter). Plus the Nazi had been around for over a hundred years right. Well he wasn't the primary scientist in the lab, that was suppose to be Walters father.

Theory Alert

Walter was the scientist in the picture and he found a way to stay alive for a extended period of time. Then he betrayed the nazi's and fled to America. His lab assistant who was younger then him also uses the compound to stay alive and thus the face off. That is why the Nazi called him a traitor when Walter killed him. Also why he instantly recognized the formula that the nazi used. Also the reason that he felt that he had to kill him. It would also explain why Walter seems to know so much about so much even with part of his brain gone. He has had several life times to perfect it all.

Finally shit is starting to come together. Neat use of inter-dimensional balancing with two buildings of the same mass having shift over. The whole I have to go to the day care was a bit much and oliva ending up seeing Peter all shinny was totally expected. However seeing what Walter and Bell put the kids through was brilliant. Oliva needing to be scared to activate her power was stupid. All in all a great ending episode for the winter. It starts back up in April.

Walter is absolutely brilliant... Still a little disappointed that there wasn't an evil Walter yet. But the promo for April looked like we just might.

Great episode tonight as I really love this show. It has the ability to just go into some really deep stuff.

It would be interesting to see where there going. You have to admit Walter is one of coolest character in any show...

Actually, i thought last nite's ep (the one with Walter telling a 'story' to Olivia's niece) was one of the weakest ever. I suppose they were trying to break up the pace a bit after the last few heavy eps, but even so, i wasn't engaged.

Except for the dead last line, it wasn't part of the overall plot or even an interesting disaster-of-the-weak. It was kind of neat to see the 'bullet' show up just before the Observers/Watchers attacked tho'.

I do think we'll be seeing Walternate, but likely in the season finale as set up for next year. Supposedly we were going to get more William Bell but Nimoy's recently announced his 'retirement' so i wonder if that hasn't been scuttled.

John Noble as Walter is one of the best things on TV and it saddens me that he hasn't been nominated for an Emmy. If there's anything i'm looking fwd to it's him playing Alter-Walter because he won't simply chew scenery - he will wholesale scarf it down, defecate it on screen and shape it into a venus de milo with mutant hedgehog arms! or something.

I don't know abyss in last weeks episode we find out that someone was able to come over from the other side. He is called MR. Secretary and since they didn't show his face just him lying on the floor I am thinking that/hoping that he is alter-Walter.

I agree last nights episode wasn't particularly engaging. Particularly the singing bits which I fast forwarded through. TVO is a wonderful thing.

Over all this season has rocked hard core. I am wondering if the Watchers are going to interfere again (like they did to make sure that Peter lived). It is obvious that Peter is something special to them.

Next weeks looks like we might get back to some good stuff.

I totally agree with you on this but given there are only three eps left for the season i'm expecting W'alter to pull a big move at the last instant, like switching places with Walter or shooting Nina or something equally radical, cut to credits and we loyal viewers are left to cliffhang til Sept.

I agree it's been a great season, altho the 'alternate universe', 'Walter and Billy experiment on children to make mutant soldiers' and anything to do with the Observers have been leaps bettter than some of the standalones like scorpion kid .

Last night notwithstanding, i totally enjoy this show. It's like everything i liked about X-FILES but on crack.
