I wonder if Walter stole Peter2 from Walter2. Maybe he even had to kill himself to do it!

By the way: Did we find out what happened to that german guy who used the teleporter? What it did to him I mean? He said it was slowly killing him, but in the mean time it made him rather special. And earlier Walter said that the teleporter didn't kill you; it did something far more terrible than that. Did I miss something or did they just kill off german guy without telling us?
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

The dude with bandages on his face running around opening dimensional portals and cutting passerbye in half was Jones, the same german dude who escaped prison via teleport and blackmailed Olivia into the whole 'turn on the lites with your brianz' thing.

The teleport did something aweful to him and was killing him but also did something that meant he could be shot in the leg repeatedly and keep on stumbling in slow motion.

In the finale

Apparently, using the portal machine afflicts one with the dreaded 'melted cheese on your face' disease. And being shot is merely a minor nuisance. :)

Yeah, I wonder what Walter had to do to steal Peter from the other dimension, too. Was his wife/Peter's mom still alive over there when it happened - he must have been pretty young. I think his grave said he was like seven or something. I didn't DVR this one so I can't go check. I guess alternate Peter could have just disappeared of the face of alternate earth... Did Walter then have to wipe his memory? Questions, questions.

I assume Bell must also have a twin in that reality, unless he killed him....

the grave said 1978-1985, so yes, 7, more or less.

There is a still a big open question about alternates - we've seen Boyles and Charlie (Scarlie) exist in both worlds.

Olivia seemed to be switching back and forth last ep and interacting familiarly with them which would confirm that there is an Olivia on both worlds, but if so, is other world also jumping back and forth?

Walter and Bell are even more confusing, especially since Bell at least is active on both worlds.

I was going to post a crazy theory that said Jones ("german guy" sounds better) fused his two selves together when he used the teleporter. Which screwed him up big time. Or something like that, but I don't have any reason to think why that would be other than a gut feeling. Still a bit dissapointed we didn't get to know what he meant by special (except being able to absorb bullets and having blisters on his face) before they killed him off Robert Jordan style.

Also I'm curious to see what this coming war will be about (and who will be on the other side... *cough*Walter2*cough*).

How sweet would it be if Walter 2 is the person running ZFT but from the other side. :)

It seems that Nimoy has some close ties to ZFT, whether he's running it or not. The things Massive Dynamic have done, and the ties they have to every major incident, seem far too shady to be completely benign.

Oh, but your idea WOULD be cool! Good thinking. Alternate Walter never went to the loony bin, and has had a vendetta since his son disappeared. Or, what if alternate Walter is a drunken, sad-sack genius professor who never recovered after his son vanished? Or maybe he's not a sad-sack, and he spends his time engineering monstrosities and sending them across the threshold to fuck with alter-Walter. Totally implausible.

And just what the fuck is Baldo all about? The observer has to be a key plot element, but for the life of me, I can't figure who he's working for, or his goals - other than to observe. I'm assuming he's not Bell's puppet. What if he's working for alternate Walter, the sane one...and his goal is to reunite Peter with his real dad. OK, I have had a bit to drink.

There is a certain logic to W/alter and/or other universe Bell being behind ZFT. It would also explain a lot about how various incidents use their old experiments, and maybe even the typewriter.

I agree, it was an OK episode until that last 5 minutes. The scene at the grave was a giant WTF! And the final shot as the camera pulls away from the building. My wife and I were watching it going, "it's not, no it can't be, oh holy shit it is". I guess it's finally been long enough here in America to show that image but still, it catches you off guard.

I actually thought the WTC shot was cheap. In another universe...the TOWERS...STILL...STAND. Yeah, so? Done purely to get a gasp out of the audience, but doesn't mean anything.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I've heard people say it's going to be a rip off of the X-Files, but then I never watched the X-Files, so that's fine with me :( . Along with Dollhouse, which doesn't start until later in the year, this is one of the two shows I'm most looking forward to in the next year.

Colour me curious. Abrams gets a lot of leeway from me, so X-Files rip notwithstanding, I'll give this a shot.

So, advanced hype for the season 2 premiere mentions some deliberate X-Files refs.

Am psyched - last season ended solid enough, plus hey, Leonard Nimoy as crazy mad scientist alternate dimension ruler guy!!!

I was hoping to the very end that Walter would be the bad guy. That everything done was meant to make him return to his old self. That little clip from when the investigator lady main character thingy was young, his voice was so awesomly evil it made me all giddy :)

I still think we're looking at either evil alter-Walter, or a return to evil Walter, this season.

Noble is SUCH a great actor in this part. he doesn't so much chew up the scene as dominate it.

I'm hoping and praying that this is more X-FILES season 2 (when that show really hit its peak and went from different to awesome) than HEROES season 2 (hey, we had a successful first season! how can we totally screw up out success?!?).

There were some low points last season. More highs than lows by far, but i'm cautiously optiomistic as opposed to full heads on psyched.

- Abyss, has been hurt before... ie: X-Files seasons whatever those last two were....

The new season is off to a decent start. The "twist" was a little predictable but it could play it nicely over the season if they do it right. And Walter's excitement about riding in the ambulance, priceless.

that was an experiment to draw viewers in. Now they go 'normal' time. Sadly.

Solid starter. New FBI girl is a bit annoying - did we really need another young naive female agent in tight shirts? Peter rocked this episode and while Olivia's role was minimal, i liked the bit where the shapeshifter attacked her and she fought back.

Walter was awesome as always and i notice Jean had a sinister look in her eyes.

Did anyone spot Baldo?

- Abyss, glad it's back.

Exploding crystal suicide bomber commandos was neat a couple of eps ago (way better than scorpion kid), and i totally enjoyed the recent episode with the shapeshifter reveal. Some shows would have made the mistake of trying to drag that out for an entire season. Nice to see they didn't.

LSD girl was totally catching that Peter was an alt. universe dude.

The show is ON. Am enjoying.

- Abyss, ...as an aside, can't believe Walter didn't go for it...

The last episode about robbing peoples dreams wasn't bad. It set up Peters bad dreams that are really repressed memories from the other side and from when Walter snatched him over. Looks like they will be following that along. Should be good.

Just watched ep 1, season 1.

I know I'm behind, but I'm even lazy with getting around to watching new shows...so whatever.

I was pretty impressed with the budget and production. I cannot however decide whether or not the lead actress is hot or not. Generally hot, but in a Uma thurman type of way: Sometimes totally not.

The plot for that first ep with the skin-melting stuff just seemed a bit hurried. Hurried like "I just met this crazy person 6 hours ago, but I totally trust him to implant an electrode into my brain stem, inject me with illegal drugs and throw me in a tank of water for a slim chance that I might be able to synchronize my dream with a half dead guy. I realize they need to advance the story and bring it to a conclusion....but it was just a bit unbelievable.

I hope the quality improves a bit. Going to watch regardless...but the pilot gets a "needs work" mark from me.

@ Cerveza - It's worth sticking with I think. There are numerous plot holes that can be found if you want to nitpick, but I think they're worth ignoring. Many (actually, most) of the mysteries of the week are completely insane, but what's reassuring is that there seems to be a coherent major story arc. The big back story could be really cool from what we've seen so far.

And on the topic of the lead actress, she continues to confuse the hot-or-not-o-meter into the second season. I have settled on hot (mostly). The Uma Thurman comparison is a good one, although she'd be more not-than-hot for me.
