Newcastle would have to urgently desire relegation in order for them to sell Given. Arsenal were poor again today but scraped it against an even more diaboloically poor Pompey side.
Good old Fulham though! That one sounds like a cracker. And a special commendation to West Brom, who have ensured it's a miserable xmas and back to a relegation scrap for the spuddies! Mwahahahaha!!!
The City Blackburn game will be interesting now, despite the fact I hate Blackburn, and especially Allardyce, Id quite like them to win so that the relegation battle is even tighter and more unpredictable.
It's bizarre, this season has a releagtion battle between any of 10 teams, Liverpool not out of the title race by xmas for the first time in decades, Villa likely to break the top 4, all the big teams underperforming massively - it's mental!

missed the game, going to watch the 40 minute highlights on lfc.tv tomorrow, and definately watching motd tonight.
5-1 several people said it could easily have been more, great to see the team performing so well would have liked to see keane get another run to continue scoring but its a crowded schedule so meh.
great to see skrtel getting a bit of pitch time again, eagerly awaiting arellios return.
Well played fulham, pity they didnt get the win, give us a full game cushion, but still nice.
furthere comments when/ if i actually get to see any of todays action

So - will Gerrard ring in the New Year doing bird? That'd bugger Liverpool up for sure, the last thing they need their club captain to do atm.

Watched the 40 minutes highlights of the liverpool game.
Man of the match, the unfortunate Given, his reaction saves are amazing, and if it weren't for him it could have been double figures. You simply cannot give stevie G that much space to run around.
havent seen motd yet, might get a look at it later if my home internets get fixed

What is it with us and 1-0 wins recently?
Still, some improvement. Rooney was probably our best player but he didn't have to drag our team up by its laces this time. Ronaldo got into good positions for the first time in a while, if he keeps on like that he'll get his shooting boots back eventually. Him and Park should both have scored about five though.

Sagna is awesome.
Anyway, Newcastle suck but Given rocks, and Arsenal should really buy him if they can.

Given should be awarded the freedom of the city and first pick of the virgins. He is the reason Toon are still in the Prem. saying that #2 Harper isnt too shabby either.

Given is unbelievably good.
I've just realised that with Chelsea's draw they've now given Man Utd the initiative. They need to take it back at Old Trafford on the 11th of next month or they're in trouble.

Not premiership I know but...
Nigel Clough is following in his old man's footsteps having just been appointed manager of Derby County. Pretty big reputation to live up to I'd say...

In a word - Abysmal
People say liverpool are a one man team.
For once I agree, that man is Xabi Alonso. Lucas simply can't fill that role.
To think Benitez was trying to offload Xabi in the summer, what an idiot (I become increasingly frustrated with his foolish substitutions, Riera off? why, he was one of the few showing any spark tonight, lucas stays on? he was having a shit game, really woeful. Gods damnit, another change to get points up wasted.)

Chelsea just look shit. That was an absolutely dire performance, the players just didnt give a toss, especially Drogba. It was like watching Arsenal. Scolari could well be out on his arse soon, methinks.

I couldn't believe how bad Chelsea were in the second half. We didn't even have to be at remotely our best, and we could have had at least a couple more, even if you ignore the two disallowed legitimate goals.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Chelsea and Man Utd both left it very late today...I get the feeling that Chelsea are soon going to be joining Arsenal in the frantic scramble to stay ahead of Villa fairly soon - they look really shakey at the moment - that loss against Man U was a body blow.
Sir Thursday
EDIT: Just looked at the table and noticed that Villa are actually above Chelsea now...yay for the end of the Big Four's monopoly on Champion's League places. Hope it keeps up like this.
EDIT 2: That's what I get for saying stuff before the final whistle...Chelsea get a second late goal to win! That's really cruel for Stoke...

Another solid thumping today. Looks like we're finally starting to click. Giggsy has still got it, Berbatov is finally playing like a striker and Vidic is the best player in the world, bar none. Hope we can keep this form together now, take it on a proper run to attack the league and Europe, because when we're at our best we're as good as Barcelona going forward. And we have a better defence.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I'm slightly worried by the Everton game, given how well they're doing. Although there is a difference between us and Liverpool and Arsenal, in that we're fucking awesome and they're not >_>, you never know.

I dont think you've too much to worry about, Im fairly sure your defenders wouldnt let Baines have enough time to make a cup of tea before putting that cross for the goal in. Arsenal have a shite defence (why wont Gallas die?!?!) and a piss poor midfield sans Cesc, RVP is the only decent player. I would say Adebayor is the laziest cunt in history, but he's competing with Bendtner and Eboue so it's tight.
