He's super intelligent, well read and best friends with an Elder God.

I don't think he's an ascendant, it would diminish his character.

He got hammered by Caladan Brood and survived. His ascendency is at least debatable.

And haroos, welcome to the forums, there is a search function that will give you immense threads and discussions about his personality. As answers for your other questions.

I believe it is either WJ or Dujek that comments that a gods hand protected Kruppe, that hand most likely being K'rulls.

Anyone notice that offand comment by K'rul when he reunions with Kallor? Something about undergoing evolution . . . K'rul's been giving Kruppe (pronounced Kroop, Kroopee, Kroopay?) a lot of attention. K'rul's said he's not expecting to see all this through. Who knows what he did in the ages he explored the Chaos warren, like an X-wing in a black hole.

I think . . . Kruppe is the next "K'rul".
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?

K'rull said he was changing or adapting. Most likely he's becomming a god of dreams.

I don't think you do much inside chaos. We've seen that there's places in there, but it sort of sounds like oblivion.

One character during a dialogue scene or somewhere, something said "Krupp" which leads me to believe it rhymes with cup and suchlike.

Yeah, I've always just said "krup".
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

There is a quote from Gardens of the Moon in which K'rul states Kruppe is a mortal. Don't have my book with me, but it is during K'rul's brief meeting with Rake atop the belfry of K'rul's church.

So, until specifically stated otherwise, I don't see any reason to believe Kruppe is not a mortal.

I reread GotM and the first bit of MoI before TtH, and I recall somewhere that it said that Kruppe (pronounced Krup by SE) was basically unaffected by magic and the gods and stuff because he was so incredibly sceptical of them to the point of immunity. Don't have the books on me right now to ref it, though. Anyone else remember that?

It doesn't answer who he is, I suppose, but I think he's a mortal with a very unique mind that gives him to very special abilities. And he hangs out with K'rul. He may or may not be ascended - although he may be ascended in a special Kruppe-only way, due to his scepticism of such things.

So Kruppe has made a weapon of his ignorance?

Ignorance is the last word I would apply to Kruppe.

He begules people with his seeming ignorance and pointless verbosity. Quite often he get things past people because they ignore what he says because he seems ridiculous and unthreatening.

Who else would like to see Iskaral Pust - Kruppe showdown?

It would probably take about 20 pages though...
Kif: Sir, remember your course correction?
Captain Zapp: No.
Kif: Well, it's proving somewhat more suicidal than we'd initially hoped.

Kruppe is definately mortal. It is mentioned many times who was there at silverfox's birth and each time Kruppe is desciribed as a mortal.

It is my understanding that Kruppe is the mortal embodiment of K'rul. Please correct me if I am wrong but I almost through with Midnight Tides, but I was able to discern that from Memories.

Nope. K'rul's mortal guise in MoI is Keruli, the merchant escorted to Capustan by Gruntle and co.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Hey, sorry, was reading over the forums, just wanted to say (not sure if anyone still goes through these.) that there was a priest in MoI, named Keruli, who was the caravan leader with gruntle and gang before they got to Coral. He then demanded entry into the masked council, later in the book, near the end he reveals himself as K'rul and does something or other, i cant fully remember. but yeah, just wanted to say incase anyone still looks at these forums lol.

In Gardens of the Moon it is stated that Kruppe has within him the ability to withstand the Younger Gods - hence Caladan Brood's inability to damage Kruppe with his hammer-swing. So combined with the ability to cast spells, being able to detect the power that other magic users can wield, and being an adept with the DoD, he is a pretty formidable foe. :)
