i dont believe anything that overt will happen. we had the resources for iraq, but its dragged on way too long and now we're pretty much maxed out. everyone is on extended tours and the reservists are getting bent over, etc. we're also having a huge problem with vehicle maintenance. we dont have the vehicles to train people before they get in the field, because they're all fucked up stateside and getting repaired and sent back out. so no, i dont believe we will do anything that drastic.

I think you're crediting McCain with more logic than he deserves.

DM, I couldn't agree more with that analysis.

Paladin? ARE YOU SERIOUS? You're letting your bias rule your reason. I respect McCain's service to our country, but he is not the man for the job. DOLE OVER CLINTON!?!?! WTF man, let go of your hate. RON PAUL!?!? He has some good ideas, but his ideas as a whole would not work to run a country.

You're clearly a right winger, but almost fanatical in some aspects. That is dangerous stuff. I respect your opinion.....and I'll let it go at that.

I'm not saying he's dimwitted. He seems intelligent. I said i don't trust his logic. For example, he wants to invade Iran.

the only fanaticalness i have stems from fiscal conservatism. i never vote yes on anything that costs me money. ron paul is the posterchild of fiscal conservatism in current popular politics

and who am i hating? i said dole over clinton and i said clinton over bush(if he could have run for a 3rd term). dont cherry pick.

@RLY - didnt he said we would if we needed to and not we would as soon as im inagurated?

I expect him to have a loose definition of "need to." Bush though we need to invade Iraq. McCain thinks we need to invade Iran.

You're not as good at hiding your thoughts as you think dude :p

Anyway, I'm really not going to sweat this too much. Obama will win unless he does something horribly stupid. WHOEVER gets elected, they have a tough task ahead of them. I wouldn't ever envy that.

What did Jesse Jackson say about Obama? I don't really get into politics, so I avoid most articles and the like, but I saw Jackson issued an apology for muttering something derogatory about Obama... the statement in question wasn't printed.

Anybody know what it was?

Basically something about Obama courting blacks for votes by putting on a facade....I believe....and Jackson's son is part of Obama's team...he was pissed.

Jackson whispered -- not realizing his mic was still on -- "Obama has been talking down to blacks; I'd like to cut his nuts off."
Shaken, not stirred.

I like how Obama has a little bit of Bill Cosby in him. He's not afraid to criticize people who consider him one of their own.

Ok, what are obama's specific stances that people like? What "change" is he bringing about that you are looking forward to?

Other than not wanting to mess with Iran that is (which I too support).
You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

At this point, I'll admit that this election I'm voting by party. The democrats could nominate a jellyfish and I would vote for it, as long as it was opposed to the main stances of the republicans. Foreign policy, economics, civil rights, environment, war, anything you can think of I'm tired of the republican viewpoint which to me seems to be screwing everything up.

Is Obama the messiah? No. But, he's a democrat, which at this point is enough for me. If he had some glaring flaws and McCain seemed superduper, I would vote otherwise, but I haven't seen those flaws and McCain does not seem superduper.

his major flaws are that he has no history and no established platform. he's doing the anti-kerry by not establishing any real views, which would be fine if he had 30 years of voting history, but he doesnt.

what is more scary: the enemy you know or the enemy you dont?

In this case if the enemy I know is a conservative republican with all the baggage that entails, then he's the more scary.

Healthcare
Getting out of Iraq (eventually)
NO war with Iran
Taxing the wealthy

Those are my tops so far.

But like RLY says, unless Obama was an idiot and McCain was brilliant, it'd be a tough sell.

McCain has shown me nothing. He seems the type that made a decent Senator, but he's not a leader.

His plan is universal Health Care, which I believe the most powerful nation in the World should be able to provide. I hope he puts Hilary in charge of that, she's been working on that idea since she was in her 20's.

Tax the wealthy because we should target tax breaks and rebates to low- and middle-income people. Their consumer spending will keep the economy chugging. Give a tax break to big corporations and the rich, and it will go anywhere on the planet in search of maximum returns. Give a tax rebate to a lower-income person or a small business and it is spent in the local economy, thus stimulating bottom up demand.
