Itkovian's death was one of the saddest moments in MoI, if not the whole MBotF . He was an awesome, very mild-mannered character who was sort of forced into all of this. Of course, the whole ending to MoI was sad. Whiskeyjack dying was maybe even more sad than Itkovian just because it was so unexpected . He was the big leader, one of the very main characters. That whole "I am not yet done" line from Itkovian was meant to foreshadow that he would die, but we weren't given any preparation for Whiskeyjack.

Back to Itkovian. He was one of my favorite characters in the book. I knew he was going to die and yet I still can't believe it. It was epic and very moving.
