I voted The Briar King...
Simply because I've read the Gunslinger, Lies of Locke Lamora, and The Name of the Wind already. I could still take part in a discussion on them, but I'm curious about Greg Keyes (I'm now reading Fatal Revenant, and Keyes will be next for sure)

Well it was mentioned like 3 times... don't change the poll now though, that'll mess up the results.
I guess I vote for Locke Lamora then, because it is a virtual rainforest full of win.

Out of sheer love for Gene Wolfe, I voted for Soldier in the Mist. I could probably write twenty posts on that and dig up more questions and thoughts off urth.net for days.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I went with the gunslinger, cause if you haven't read it you should, and I always wanted to talk about it with folks. Plus the first line is the best line ever written.

Gunslinger, definitely. Though if Stormcaller were added...I may change my vote.....

Wolfe has some "Bakker-esque" qualities to him...or actually Bakker has some "Wolfe-esque" qualities to him I should say
I need to pick that book back up, I was enjoying it but after about an hour my brain was tired....stupid booze and other detractors.... *shakes fist*

Soldier of the Mist is an entirely different storyline*. It concerns a soldier in the time of the great Persian kings (Darius, Xerxes etc.) who is wounded and can only remember things for one day or so. Latro keeps a journal of his travels.
Oh, and he can also see and talk with gods, is a world-class soldier, makes friends and enemies easily and is driven by some kind of inner purpose to fix himself and find something or someone again.
*Not to get too far into the discussion, but if you subscribe to the pretty much generally accepted theory that the Sun books take place in a far, far future ON Earth, then it could be possible that the Latro stories take place on the same planet with maybe thousands or millions of years in between.

I love what i've read of Gene Wolf, so I voted for him. Though the Gunslinger would be fun too I think

I voted for name of the wind by Rothfuss, I have already read it, but it was pretty good, and would read it again.
I would really be fine with anything up there (I have read about half) Except for Gunslinger. I hate Stephen King.
