Gunslinger all the way. People overlook it as fantasy so often because it's written by an author who primarily writes horror.

(I own a copy of "Gunslinger" in French. I bought it in Quebec City, when I had nothing to read.)

@Zanth: what does that mean? unless I'm missing something, it's a three way-tie and if you're allowing Obdigore's vote-switch then Lies wins.

If it's a matter of someone voting but not posting, it was me who put the most recent vote on Lies because I really like the book and would like to talk about it at length. That being said, i think Scott Lynch has spent his brilliance and if he can make this into a credible 7 book series, I will stab myself in the eye with a fork :o

I dunno Mal, I would like to see how it goes with the third book. To see if he can bring it back up to the quality of the first (or better), or if he is spent....

The synopsis for the third book is awful, but that's just because it gives away huge swathes of plot, and is hardly Scott's fault;) I'd recommend not reading the synopsis, just go straight onto the book, which will probably be his make or break.

We need a recount from the thread starter's brother to ensure that Lies has the victory.

Well well, seeing as I have already read Lies I'll actually be able to take part in this round of book discussion.

Good for me.

I would have probably picked 'Gun, with Occasional Music' were it not for the fact that I am desperately busy just because that is one seriously cool title. However, I think the process of reading a book you liked the first time a second time through lends itself to good commentary, especially considering the fact that I personally think it's the best thing he'll ever produce :o

edit: SE is going up if you haven't noticed. SL has committed to a folly, unless he has multiple strokes of brilliance to pull him out of the hole he's dug for himself :) No tension = no story.
