john wears a wifebeater vest, he has to win.
Donnie Darko, too old but I can't believe I forgot it.
Lord of War FTW, It rocks, I know nicholas cage is a pretty poor actor but he class in this film.

I would claim there wasn't much original about American Gangster.

it does have a few laugh out loud moments though - most notably when the director kid is giving his seminar at the end and tells the fat guy to shut the fuck up :(

I heard once that the Die Hard 3 script was originally supposed to be a Lethal Weapon movie. Someone bailed out so they changed it a bit and stuck McClane in there instead of Riggs. So they're pretty similar characters - similar enough to share a script.

Riggs is probably a better fighter, but John never loses.

I don't know particularly about that, BUT, Die Hard was originally Commando 2. Arnold turned it down so they reworked it and made Die Hard, which helped change the 80s action flicks(gratuitous tongue in cheek violence with middling to poor acting and dialogue other than oneliners) to the 90s action flicks(well cast, well acted, good dialogue, taking itself seriously rather than being gratuitous/cheesy). Kind of interesting how it happened because without Die Hard, the action landscape would be totally different and Bruce Willis would still be that guy from Moonlighting(or whatever that show was)

Awh, I'd almost prefer a Commando 2. I loved Commando.

But on the other hand Die Hard is about the best action flick ever.

Shawn of the Dead was by far the better, but that's obviously a knock-off.

Commonly held misconception. Hot Fuzz was at least 14.8 times better than Shaun of the Dead.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

Oldboy is iirc based on a manhua (Korean comic book)
As for Kill Bill - I own all of the Lady Snowblood manga and one of the films and the only way in which Kill Bill resembles them is in having a woman running around with a sword killing people.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I would have agreed with this, but I've seen "The Darjeeling Limited" this weekend, and I must say, it was a great disappointment. Apart from the scenery in the background, the movie was... boring.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is a good film. The way it jumps backwards and forwards makes it even better where as in some films this style seems to ruin films.

Pan's Labyrinth is probably the best original movie I've seen in the last 5 years...

Not that I'm aware of... A quick check of IMDB shows it to be an original screenplay.
