Better Call Saul A Breaking Bad Prequel

The reviewers I've heard seem to think that it starts out at a pretty high level (for the episodes they've seen) if not at the level of Breaking Bad's peak. I haven't seen Breaking Bad so can't comment on that.
I'm hoping it will be a great success so that it might encourage more content producers to do things like this. So instead of trying to have a series run on and on and on, they might actually give a series a finite run, and conclude that story properly. And if people really want more, then commission a spin off and trust that the people will follow the quality.

Genius first episode. Loved the opening. Oh Saul, at least you're alive.
Oh my! that case with the three defendants! And the familiar face at the end of the episode! Oh man!
New episode tonight and then to it's normal Monday night schedule. I will probably be dropping Gotham for this (unless Gotham can give me a reason to stay with it).

Overall pretty damn impressed. I'm not sure WHY, but I was expecting WAY less overlap with Breaking Bad. Maybe I was thinking of this show as the Esslemont to Breaking Bad's Erikson, if you will. But it's clear they're going to interwine the show with characters and events from BB pretty heavily, and I couldn't be more pleased. Although I do find myself wondering how much I'm watching because I love Breaking Bad, and how much I'm watching because I'm invested in the character.
I will say that there were a few key places in both eps 1 and 2 where it felt like it was just DRAGGING pretty significantly. Saul's negotiation with

in the desert just went on way, way too long, I felt.

Caught the first two eps. Other than the Chuck storyline which seems kinda random, love the show.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Where does it say Chuck is his brother? I know now but missed it while watching.
I see what you mean QT I expected it to stand on its own feet a bit more aswell. I think Mike will be heavily involved aswell possibly a main arc. Odenkirk is brilliant though when hes mocking Mike about the tickets and doing the troll impression. Hearty laugh from me. Also Mikes face is the best IDGAF face ever I love Mike probably my favourite character. I think Gus will be in it a bit aswell if only for Mikes storyline.
I think as well as Saul well see Mike move from parking guy / disgraced cop to man with contacts and henchman for Gus and maybe the founding/expansion of Poyos Hermanos.

Finished episode 2 and man oh man this show is brilliant! Bob Odenkirk has GOT TO be in discussion for an Emmy this year. The scene in the desert where Saul argues Tuco down from skinning the skate border brothers alive, to a Colombian Necktie to cutting out their eyes to finally getting them out of their predicament with just broken legs was one of the best ever. So good. Pumped for episode 3 tonight!

Watched the first two eps.I'm not feeling love. It's... Ok. It seems like too many scenes are running way longer than needed. And for every brilliant sequence - the courthouse montage in ep 2 was glorious - there's a scene that serves no purpose bigger than making Jimmy look pathetic - every time he walks into his 'office'.
I loved Breaking Bad, I want to like this show, but it may be that the core of it just doesn't draw me in. I'll give it another ep or two but it may bcome something I wait to marathon in a few years if it sticks around and hits the mark more.

Man oh man, episode 3: another solid episode. I had to go to the urban dictionary to learn what a "Chicago Sunroof" is.

Abyss, I'm feeling verbatim the same way.

The tepid response is also what happened with Breaking Bad. Then all the naysayers and poo-pooers jumped back on board so they could fit in with the cool kids. All I can say is stay with it. It's a slow burn at times but is brilliant and you can tell it's all going to coalesce into something fantastic (Mike helping out Jimmy - aka Saul - in episode 3 is an indication of this). I do see where this show lends itself to binge watching, so maybe that is an option for you impatient babies.

Oh my! Jimmy's (aka Saul) hero ruse to drum up business sure did bring out the weirdos. "Tony the Toilet Buddy"?! WTF?!

There is a lot of groundwork being laid for potentially many seasons of television. I take it as a good sign that they are doing it carefully so the foundation is solid. It's good.
I think a lot of people are just annoyed that it isn't breaking bad, or that it doesn't have the same amount of action as the last season. This is a silly way to approach this show.

Jimmy (aka Saul) sure did put the Kettlemans in their place, with a little help from Mike . Man, Mike's genius in tracking where they hid the money was top notch!
Oh, and the private discussion with Mike and the veteran police officer from Philadelphia at the beginning, where the police officer says some stones are best left unturned - reffering to Mike. Heh, if his uppity partner only knew.

Damn, Chuck is an "idiot savant" when it comes to piecing together shredded documents.

Watched eps 4 and 5... Hate to say but this ain't working for me. It's too... Ordinary. Great acting, but the story itself... Meh. Bored. Ah well, I tried.

I'm warming up to it a bit, but over the last few episodes I've sort of been feeling a little "been there, done that" with the story arc. I mean, both Jimmy/Saul and Mike's story arcs are thematically following pretty much the exact same arc of Walter White: a gradual, piecemeal slide into moral decay where the audience find themselves rooting for "bad" guys.
