Some casting details for season 6:

http://screenrant.co...ing-characters/

They're not named, but Euron and the Tarly family are pretty solid deductions.

So perhaps Sam and Gilly journeying south takes the place of Brienne's travels? I'll take it.

Me too, seems a reasonable exchange.

The priest they mention.... forgive me, it's a while since I read Feast and then only the once - is he the one on the Quiet Isle?

I am doing a reread, but I am not there yet.

I am kind of not looking forward to tonight's episode because I'm scared the bit with the wildlings will be boring. I keep having to remind myself that there will be a Dany + Tyrion scene.

I don't think it'll be boring. Rattleshirt is small potatoes, of course, but Varamyr should be cool enough (I know he's also kind of annoying in the books, but in terms of really laying out warging for Jon, I hope the show lends him some gravity).

They have to kiss first for it to be truly Luke & Leia level.

Okay, that was much better than I expected. I was scared they'd waste time doing boring stuff this episode and do the battle in the following episode. And I'm glad they did the reveal on Valyrian steel; we all expected it but it's nice to see it.

Dany + Tyrion was also quite good.

Damn, that was intense. I love that we are ahead of the books -- it's really fun when we don't know what is about to happen.

I have been reading various articles on major news/entertainment sites, and it's distressing how many people don't seem to know the difference between White Walkers and wights. Not just in the comments. People writing articles don't know the difference. Like this guy:

Quote

We’ve waited so long to see the Walkers at full strength that you could be forgiven for maybe-kinda-sorta thinking they weren’t as dangerous as we’ve been led to believe. After all, Sam killed one with a dagger and a small girl’s fireballs took care of a few others...

Really, how can this be so confusing?

Now we know where the Dorne budget went. I don't think there are skeletons in the books, but it definitely fits show continuity like the landmine skeletons from last season. And I dunno if that giant was very Wun Wun, but it was awesome regardless.

Yah I wanted to see Varamyr too. If they're just gonna do it all in ep 10, I fear it'll be a little rushed, especially since we've got zero of Arya's warging. I wonder if the Faceless Men (in the books) even know about it, or if that's her shaved knuckle in the hole.

The boat scene was definitely some of the not-so-subtle foreshadowing. But Rattleshirt was perfect. He's a dumb character; he deserved a dumb death.

Speaking of Tyrion's possible Targness, as we were earlier, I thought it interesting that they drew attention to Joanna in this episode, as if they wanted us to remember her name. Tyrion could have just said "I killed my mother when I came into this world" but he said her name. I believe that is the first time she has been mentioned by name in the series.

Yah maybe so. Interesting, but it would just be crazy if they dropped that confirmation this season.

A thought occurred to me that a dehydrated Cersei hallucinating in jail would be a pretty great opportunity to give us the second half of her flashback w/ Maggy the Frog. They've really been holding it off and I'm not sure how else they'd introduce it before her walk.

And maybe I'm just tripping, but that wight girl looked a lot like the one from season 1's first scene.

Oh, that I doubt. It's just a seed.

I was compelled to update Joanna's GOT Wiki page. I don't know if I've ever edited a GOT Wiki page, though I've picked a few nits on the Wiki of Ice and Fire in the past.

A quick look at the next ep.

Love the Colosseum look of the Dany fighting pit scene, the Targy banners, and the cheers.

I had the impression that the editing of the battle was a little sloppy, but I wanted to rewatch to be sure.

A lot of people noticed that Jon's boat wasn't moving at the very end, and this after he told the oarsmen to move it. They weren't rowing, and even though they appeared to be moving when the camera was on them, they didn't get very far from the pier, and the scene went on and on.

The Walker Jon killed was seen after the fact on the shore, killing wildlings. There were only two Walkers cast: that guy and the Night's King. The others on the cliff were props.

There was one time when Wun Wun was wiping out wights with his fiery beam, and the wights just disappeared when he hit them. Also, I liked Wun Wun smashing wights with his feet but they should have at least been twitching afterward. They don't die for anything less than fire.

Much of the fight was edited such that you couldn't even tell what was going on, who was killing who, etc. That thing with Jon holding a wight up against the gate with his sword while Tormund and some other folk rolled up some kind of ...door? To crush the wight? That was weird, since they didn't show the end result. There were other similar things.

Oh. That didn't occur to me because it's not like the gates were very sturdy.

Just the one where he converted a baby. The actor was only credited for two episodes.

The White Walker Jon killed has been doing this for a while. (IMDB) He has been credited for 5 episodes, including ep. 10 of this season. Maybe all the Walkers are supposed to look the same? I imagine it's a lot of work to get them made up. They have had different people do them in the past, but this one guy gets around. It's annoying because he has a distinctive look.
