Why do people keep claiming that WJ is better than Kallor, so what if his leg broke? Kallor tripped on a spear but (or something) which was what gave WJ his opening in the first place. And even if WJ had run Kallor through and through, would that had killed him? he survived two crosbow shots and a sunfire burst from Tay after all.

EDIT: I hope Kallor kills Korlat and Orfantal and wears their skin as a draconean coat.

Haha, Kallor tripped over his own geriatric feet. It only says his heel caught, prolly on his overblown reputation. 2) the CG disintegrated the quarrels with chaotic magic. 3) When Tay hit him he screamed "Heal me" and vanished. 4) I NEVER claimed WJ was better than Kallor--I simply said he had him.

But if we want to discuss better, then Dujek claims WJ could hold off Dassem for awhile. Brood tells us Kallor has never faced anyone with real talent. No Seguleh, Crimson Guard, Andii, Dassem---nobody.

It's not really speculation. I think what finally convinced me was the index, where he's listed as Mason of HHD

Thanks, I'll look that up. I was just going on the QoD assertion that Hood delighted in exacting vengeance on WJ for stealing Dunsparrow. Hood did this by ever turning away the healer's touch on his leg.

I wonder sometimes if Dunsparrow was Hood marked for a position in HH Death. Seems like he was overly obsessed with losing a living child when his domain is comprised with souls. Or it could be those village elders made a bargain with Hood or his priests that we're not aware of.

This may fall in the fringe theory category but I wonder if that Paran-Hood bargain involved Dunsparrow.

Hmm, none of my books list anyone as the mason.

Hm, you know what? I just (only) checked the wiki index, and it's listed there... but I don't know from whence that info comes. I had assumed it was just a compilation of all the indices but apparently not... My bad. Sorry about that. Have conciliatory rep.

Yeah the book does not have WJ listed as the Mason of HHD in the glossary... that would be silly. That whole theory stems from Tattersail's deck reading, i believe the one when she uses the whole deck to make a spiral pattern. She studies the Mason of HHD card and ponders a few things, one of them being that WJ used to be an apprentice mason/stonecutter. Two problems with this terrible terrible theory, however.

As we should all know by now:
A card in a reading does not equal having that position in the house!

We see the Mason of Death himself in GotM when Oponn negotiate for Paran's soul. The mason is not like the Solider or Knight or Champion. The Mason does not go hunting lethal enemies. There is no reason to believe that the Mason of Death has died and Hood has needed a replacement. The current Mason is most likely the same one that's been doing it for many many years.

I forgot all about #2. Thanks. Interestingly enough, it also contains the motivation for toppling Laseen. I don't remember it being spelled out so clearly. Anyway, she's pretty much toppled it herself so it's a shame they didn't have her killed.

about kallor, where exactly does his power come from? how on earth did he incinerate an entire continent? kurald thyrllan or something? have we seen him open a warren? were the people he subjegated worshipping him as a god? if they were wouldn't he have been an ascended god, and if he was an ascended god how could the elder trio keep him from ascending after he already ascended?

apparently he is a master tactician, fair enough, but its hard to incinerate a continent with complex strategy, you just level the place. and he's some good tits with a sword, but hasnt faced the biggest baddest sword wielders today, and when he fights tayz and silverfox, he uses the CG's power.

this is really buggin me out all of a sudden, apt im looking to you
