If the plan is camping, the midwest would be fine. Their woods are at least as good as the woods in PA. It would also make it more likely that canadians would make it. I suggest you figure out who all wants to come, and then pick a location more or less central for everyone.

I live in Seattle. I don't think it's realistic to go to PA for this.

Aye, me as well Ray. Us West Coasters are too far away.

I'd also like to know if any of our wacky neighbors to the north are coming?

looks like I will be home(middle of Texas) late Aug to early Sept for leave...Not sure if I will be able to make this one, though it does sound fun... and
Colorado has a lot of good camping sights just fyi, but thats pretty far away from most of you I guess...when ever I get back to the states full time I plan on doing a road trip around the U.S and Canada (if im not in jail) and maybe I can get a beer along the way with several of the state side forumites. and by "a beer" I mean about 24 beers....:D
You can't find me because I'm lost in the music

Hmm, it doesn't look good for me making this one... mostly because I'm trying hard to attend the Europe meet-up. I wish you guys the best of luck though. :D

This is a cool idea. I can't even drive yet so I of course won't be coming to anything like this anytime soon.

But in say, five years or so, when I'm 21 and can legally drink and do whatever, there should another one.

Though that place would be pretty perfect for me since it's only a few hours drive. Plus I have freinds in that area I could stay with...

...I wish there was an international convention with lots of cool stuff and the two writers could grace us with their presence.

Neither can I. Maybe we should take mules.

@Xander: I live in Atlanta. Maybe when you come to see the infant we could meet up for an ale. Or a stout, or a porter...

@Skywalker: My wife hasn't read any of the books, either. I'm certain we're not the only ones. Perhaps a spouse-of-obsessed-geeks support group could form. We could then pretend they are D'ivers shrews...

We have family in PA, so maybe I can convince the wife that we are going to see the fam and SURPRISE! 'Honey, you're not going to believe this...'

You guys could try and do a few seperate meetups, so more people might be able to make them... say one for each quarter of the country, that sort of thing. Just a suggestion :D

Nope,

You all should just show up in MPLS, with the canadiens too.

I'm about 4 hours from MPLS and less than that to Chicago. Lots of great campgrounds (non-cornfields) in Wisconsin, and that's a lot more central for all east/west coasters to reach.

You in middle of 'Sconny?

Yup lots of campgrounds, hiking trails, fishing, all that jazz in minnesota, and either that, or iowa is the most central place for the NA continent... but it all depends on how far people want to go.

Stay out of this, tea bag.

Go have your silly meet up on the moors of SmellyShire, or wherever. :o

An East/West Meet up seems the most logical. Though it'd be sweet to have us all at one. That's the problem when you live in a huge country, you dont' realize it until something like this comes up.

Fine then, you Coasties can meet up and those of us who live in the Chicago/Wisco/'Sota area can get our groove thang on. I should say though, that the wife and I are planning a trip to either SoCal or NYNY in August, so if something is going on out there....
