Blind/Garath/Probably not Fanderay, so far.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Is it indeed Daru? Can someone find related descriptions of that statue and see it it has been described in previous books?

No, but we know it's based there, so it's probably a safe bet...

To me the hound is much more likely to be one of the wolves of winter than one of the hounds of shadow, as the image is very wolf-life, not at all like the bulkier image we have of the hounds of shadow. That said if it is a hound it's likely supposed to be blind.
Now wild theory based on no evidence whatsoever...
the white dog is Ryllandaras, also known as the white jackal.
Oh and is it just me or are the creatures approaching more catlike?
I really hope TOR don't butcher this painting like the others, but I'm not holding out much hope for accuracy, and I suspect speculation based on the picture will be pointless, as we often debate what the picture is of when we KNOW whats in the books.

In the past, Tor took the right half or lower right corner as the book cover. If that happens, this specific painting works much better than the old ones because there's more interesting stuff going on in that area. Way to compose the work, Lockwood.
Why would Barathol be following what is either Blind, Barath or a wolf god? From his stance, it looks like he's just been made aware of the D'ivers running near him. The D'ivers (my guess) does not seem to be all that concerned with either of the two and is probably getting the heck out of Abilene.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

The D'ivers reminds me more of cat's than of hounds or jackals. It could also be the Pack. Although I though that Iron Bars and co killed it?
The main thing for the white one is that there are only a few possibilities; Ryllandaras (White Jackal, a bit too big), Fanderay (two eyes, hence it can't be Togg), a Hound of Light (although they have been denied to exist?), possibly Garath, or Blind.
Person; Barathol. Or Draconus (random guess, but he does sort of look like I would imagine an un-hooded Draconus). Other than that.....anyone?
Anyway - it looks good, but I still prefer the Bantam/UK version....

@Zanth. I couldn't see it either at work
I was really hoping for a cover featuring Rake.....but oh well.
I do like the cover better than the RG or tBH US ones though....

I don't see why everyone here hates the US covers. I think they've all been good except for TBH and GotM (the latter was good artwork, but unrepresentative and cliched.)

They just aren't accurate...IMO.
GotM was awful. Looked like a romance novel. DHG was good...but the others weren't all that great. HoC and MT were also decent...but come on...tBH was AWFUL.

The other creatures (for want of a better word) could be another Dejim Nebrahl-type thing or two?

The picture isnt too clear but when you blow it up it looks like the guy might be wearing some kind of mask around the bottom portion of his face.
And some of the dark four legged creatures are very dog-like others are felinish
Weird.
Maybe its something we haven't seen before. SE likes his dogs...

Just received word from Lockwood.
He and SE discussed the scene for the cover over drinks that the World Fantasty Con. He doesn't know who the axe-wielding man is. But when SE saw the art, he realized that there should only be 5 hounds in the background. I guess that's our hint...
Otherwise, everything is open to speculation!

Perhaps Tor will just cut off the left side until there's only five of them?
I don't think that's a mask... I think that's just burn marks, from the fire. Or else he didn't shave that morning.
Is it just me, or of the group of 5 dark thingies that are farther away from us, the one that's closest looks very pig/boar-like

If that man is Dessimbelackis, he's not as big as I imagined, after reading about the chaincoat wearing dude in Reapers Gale.
