On the back of several positive reviews here, I went and got LEVIATHAN WAKES (for some good sci-fi) and then the first of the ALEX VERUS novels (for a slice of Dresden-like urban fantasy). Hoping both are as good as people here have found them.

Binder...LW is so damn cool. I'm almost done with it.
That's good to hear. I'm already over half way through "Fated" by Benedict Jacka, and loving it, so I'll probably finish that tonight.
In which case I'll start into "Leviathan Wakes" tomorrow or the day after. It's great knowing there are sequels to these books already published as well.

picked up:
Beyond the Shadows by Brent Weeks, The Blade Itself and Before They are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie,
I thought to pick it up once again, unlike last week when I had to cancel it, now I'm all up for trying Abercrombie now, but I will have to put him behind from my other books to read, and will definitely pick up the other 3 books of Abercrombie,
now I can finally finish the Night Angel Trilogy, and I'm considering picking up The Black Prism as positively recommended by The Briar King,

Purchased the first three BLACK COMPANY omnibuses.
Guess I didn't realize while at the store, but there's only four volumes, should have sprung for that one too and got the whole set. Oh well.
Read the original trilo and Silver Spike about 10 yrs ago, but then never could find the Books of the South in my area.
I probably need to stop buying books and get to reading.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Did my weekly trip to the bookstore and grabbed:
WHISPERS UNDERGROUND - Ben Aaronovitch (3rd in the series!)
HARLEQUIN - Bernard Cornwell (there is a 4th Thomas Of Hookton book coming out later this year, I figure it's time to start the series)
FATED - Benedict Jacka (from forum recommendations)

More HPB acquisitions: F. Paul Wilson's The Keep (which I've just started) and Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake.
