Couldn't help myself: Half Price Books had the Tor hardcover of GotM on the clearance rack for $2. I now own one copy for each time I've read it (3).
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Bought the entire HERITAGE OF SHANNARA quad.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

On a bit of a Pratchett kick (seeing as I only owned all the City Watch Discworld books so far, and decided that was a travesty), so I was out today and grabbed WYRD SISTERS and THE WEE FREE MEN.

Two (I was leaving the store and saw them) buys:
THE STORIES OF IBIS - Hiroshi Yamamoto (a future earth where artificial intelligence is dominant and a human meets an android who tells hims seven stories about the fall of humanity)
THE DAKOTA CIPHER - William Dietrich (An adventurer/spy who helped Napoleon win a decisive battle then travels across the United States with a norseman in search of Thor's Hammer)

So after the recent news that the US publisher who does Tolkien's books filed for bankruptcy a few days back I began to fear that the other covers that match my new copy of THE SILMARILLION (latest US softcover trade, art by Alan Lee) would become quite scarce (and I dislike HarperCollinsCanada's new versions), I picked up UNFINISHED TALES, and replaced my existing HOBBIT, and LOTR books as well. $90 later...but what the hell right?
Anyways, they look pretty slick together on the shelf.

The Case of the Missing Servant by Tarquin Hall, a spoof of detective novels, the cover was so flashy I couldn't resist buying it.

_Kushiel's Avatar_ has arrived! But it's the TPB version :-( Will have to get the MMP for the look of the whole set.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

LORD FOUL'S BANE
THE ILLEARTH WAR
THE POWER THAT PRESERVES
Tried Thomas Covenant a long time ago but for various reasons (one being physically misplacing the book) I never got through LORD FOUL'S BANE. However, I am a big fan of Donaldson's Gap series, so am going back to give this a try.

nice collection, that is one of the reasons why i like my books to be the same cover/edition so that it will really look to be one complete collection,
i had my malazan books 1-4 on TOR mmpb, i have one HoC bantam edition, as i hated the tor cover,
MT on TPB, books 6-8 on mmpb, then both DoD and TCG on tpb, but i still want it to be all mmpb, but guess i have to get by this,
NoK on mmpb, RoTCG on hard-bound!! but i'm a little disappointed with this one, its good but could have been better,
just ordered a copy of patrick rothfuss books, as i don't want to read on advance WMF, tNotW is sold-out right now on my local bookstore, but i'm willing to wait,
trying to decide if i should just go with glen cook's black company paperback story collection or buy them as separate books, might be more expensive at that,
on topic, just bought the hunger games book 1, on paperback,
It's not who I am underneath.. but what i do that defines me - Batman, Batman Begins; 'Without our deaths, sir, there would be no crime. Thus, no punishment to match,' 'Mortal Sword - '
'We are done, my friend. Now, in this manner, we choose the meaning of our deaths' - Mortal Sword Brukhalian to Veteran Nilbanas, siege of Capustan
'Ippen shinde miru (want to try dying this once) ?' - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

I pre-ordered Stephen King's 11.22.63 in paperback, and then I bought John Connolly's Bad Men and Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles. I was hesitating over Achilles for a while but finally caved so fingers crossed that it was worth my $10.

Picked up the entire Long Price Quartet for $8 at a sale in the uni bookshop today. I've read them before, but I don't own them and $2 each was too good to pass up.

Needed something to read while I wait for my next bundle of books from Amazon to arrive, so I Bought Trudi Canavan's Last of the Wilds and Adrian Tchaikovsky's Salute the dark. The price difference between Norway and the UK is just ridiculous. In Norway a new hardback book cost about 42 £, but if I order them form the UK I can get'em as cheap as 13-14£..

Apparently I'm on a book-buying binge as yesterday after work I went to Indigo and bought four new ones: Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, Piers Anthony's On a pale horse, Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age and lastly, Cook's Bleak Seasons / She is the Darkness collection. I'd never read anything by Card before but holy hell, I'm tearing through it...started it this morning and I'm already halfway done.

It's that time of year again (AKA when Chapters/Indigo does their yearly summer reading push and offers Buy 3 get the 4th free).
So I decided it was to be used to buy books I've always wanted to read but never have, so I got.
LORD OF THE SILVER BOW - David Gemmell
THE TERROR - Dan Simmons
THE SEARCH FOR WANDLA - Tony Diterlizzi
GREEN RIDER - Kristen Britain

Aren't you a little old for those Where's Wandla books?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
