Bought:
Jim Butcher - Codex Alera 5 and 6
Jasper Kent - Twelve
ICE - Stonewielder (finally!)

Put inquiries in for:
Adam Roberts - New Model Army
Chris Wooding - Black Lung Captain
(really, really enjoyed Retribution Falls)
Matthew Stover - Caine books

I thoroughly enjoyed these two books. It was nice to see Wooding's characters growing, and I'm developing quite a soft spot for his stuff. The Fade was another good one.

Related, if you didn't see the ded'thread, amazon.ca just moved the street date for TCG back to March 15. Canadians (and those who love them) be warned!

Thus are those of us who pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk vindicated in our choice! I got the email that mine dispatched to me this morning. WOOT!!

Not quite sure where to post this, so I'll just post it in here. I found a nice shop selling Erikson rares. Their service ist especially awesome if you like your books clean and without bends or cracks (Yeah, I am looking at you, Amazon, I am looking at you). I ordered Crack'd Pot Trail from them and they used enough stuffing and bubble foil for two books. :)

edit: Next time, don't forget the link D:

Of fucking course I go to BAM today to buy TCG and Wise Man Fears and they dont have TCG.....

Man that sucks terribly. Hopefully they will get it in soon.

At one point this morning I looked like a kid on Christmas that was just told that Santa had crashed his sled on Christmas Eve and there were no presents because I thought the bookstore had no copies of TCG. I even told my work that I would be in late today just so I could stop at the bookstore, when it opened, to pick up my copy. Walked in and looked at the New Fiction shelf- wasn't there, went to the Best-sellers and Notables section- nope- so then I headed to the Erickson section in the Fiction section- no TCG. I literally almost panicked and couldn't believe it hadn't come in(that's when the sad kid face hit me) but I asked a worker there about it and he said "That's weird it shows we received it. I don't know why it's not out." but another guy came by and told me he was heading to the stock room to get it. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!

He brought me a copy and I ran to the checkout like crazed moron. Haven't gotten to read much at all because of work but tonight I will settle in and get some serious page turning on. Mesohappy.

The Wise Man's Fear was waiting in my postbox this morning when I got back from the gym

Haha, this happened to me with both TOLL THE HOUNDS and DUST OF DREAMS..I had to get them to check and for some reason with both....they had to go unpack a box to get it for me. LOL, Which was why I chose to order from the UK this year....which so far is not doing me any favors. Perhaps today is the day. Sigh.

Nice! That's gotta rock!

Chapters near my place seems to have this in stock so I'm likely to go pick it up today so I can read it after TCG comes and I've read that.

Its a brick too. 990 pgs.... I want to go pick it up and start reading so bad but im stopping myself cause I want TCG more. It looks so lonly on my shelf right now though. The agony...

I was going to wait till I had a Kindle for WMF...but then I see my nice hardcover copy of NAME OF THE WIND on my shelf and think...man that book would be lonely without a physical copy of it's new baby brother. Perhaps the answer is to buy it hardcover to keep and then buy the kindle version to read so my arms don't bust off at the elbows trying to read that bastard.

FWIW, the map on NotW/WMF looks great on the Kindle. You don't have to zoom in and you can read it all clearly. I'll keep buying the Stormlight Archive in hardback because of all the pictures, but Kingkiller is a good choice for Kindle IMO.

I hit the clearance rack at Half Price Books and found, for $2 each, TPBs of:

Swords and Deviltry (Lankhmar, Book 1) by Fritz Leiber
Swords Against Death (Lankhmar, Book 2) by Fritz Leiber
The Children of Hurin by J. R. R. Tolkien
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I'm beginning to think I may have to cough up the dough for a hardcover version of The Crippled God. Not that that would be a problem, I like hardcover books, it's just bloody expensive for a poor student such as myself. But with my recent high reading activity the wait for the paperback version may just be unbearable.
Same goes for Stonewielder
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Nice one, I like Leiber's work, very enjoyable.

The book(s) I bought today are:

The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins
and
Eagle of the Ninth, Rosemary Sutcliff

I picked up Hornblower and the Hotspur and Throne of Jade the other day for 95 cents each. Two Napoleonic War novels for less than the price of one. Good times.
