Filled some more holes in my collection yesterday at Half Price Books:

Chanur's Homecoming by C. J. Cherryh
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones by R. A. Salvatore
Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno
Star Wars: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight by Michael Reaves
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Good choice IMO, I thought they were a great read, hence my book purchase of Glen Cook's "Water Sleeps" and "Soldiers Live."

Bought this weekend:

Neal Asher: _The Gabble_ (collection of shorts in the Polity universe)
Richard Morgan: _The Steel Remains_

Both will have to wait until I finish _1610_, which has grabbed my attention quite nicely :)

Went into my local Waterstones today planning to pick up Nation only to find SF author Neal Asher there doing a signing. So I thought what the hell, and picked up a copy of his first book, Gridlinked. Chatted for a bit, mostly about his disappointment that his American publishers hadn't published the second book in his series and jumped to Book 3, apparently because Book 2 was too big (although at less than 700 pages it's hardly breaking any records).

I was woken in the morning by a Postman who brought me a nice and beautiful copy of Folio Society The Hobbit. Nice edition indeed.

I had a buck left on a gift card, so I went to Half Price Books to check the clearance racks. Ended up picking a copy of Mary Brown's The Unlikely Ones.

I picked up Bakkers "The Thousand Fold Thought". I had read about three quarters of it before but lost interest and then the book went missing. So in anticipation of his return, I thought I'd take a refresher.
