"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I bought the entire Special Edition the UK version of Harry Potter and 2 beautiful Collector editions - the USA.
Actually I have not received the second book from America yet, it is on its way.
American edition is a lot more beautiful than British one. What a shame They issued only the first two books in this format then stopped for some reason.

Naomi Klein- "The Shock Doctrine" --need it for class
China Meville- "Perdigo Street station"--it was quite strongly recommended on this board, and i'd like to try some steampunk.
Peter F. Hamilton--the "Reality Dysfunction" Omnibus.
now, if only I could find the time to finish my current reading pile and get on with these books...

*boggle* You mean a single-book edition of all three monster tomes?

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

Just arrived from UPS:
The Ten Thousand by Paul Kearney
The Devil You Know by Mike Carey (new author to me, but it looks like modern urban fantasy about an exorcist)
Implied Spaces by Walter Jon Williams (an excellent author who doesn't get enough credit these days)

Actually, this makes sense if he's from America. They split the book in two over there and Orbit USA have just reissued it in one proper volume again. So from the American POV, it is an omnibus. I think Italy get each one of the three books split in 6 or something ridiculous.

Let us know how that one goes (no spoilers). I'm too broke for books at the moment and none of my local libraries stock much fantasy, but I'm planning on picking it up when I can.

I hate reading books on the computer. I do love ebooks, though, for reference purposes. But fiction for pleasure, I need a real book.
There's a good used book store in my hometown, but I won't be able to hit it up until December.
