Found HB of Dark Horse's THE STAR WARS. Fascinating to glimpse a Star Wars that might have been.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

On Saturday I had to kill 2 hours in a mall while my phone's screen was being replaced.

Scoped out a bunch of books @ Chapters to pick up with my next few paychecks.

Wasn't gonna buy anything, but oon my way out I also decided to take a peek on the shelves @ Coles. And there I found the one book that's been eluding me for over a year now- Kraken by China Mieville

Grabbed it promptly

Just picked up to read Malice/Valor/Ruin by John Gwynne and Antiphon by Ken Scholes.

I'd love to know how Kraken by China is whenever you finish. Not sure why I haven't picked it up. I've enjoyed the other books.

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

The Many-Coloured Land (Saga of the Exiles Bk 1) by Julian May (actually a re-buy because I fancied re-reading it and no longer had the paperback)
The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney
Random Acts of Senseless Violence by Jack Womack
Necroscope by Brian Lumley
Alex Benedict Collection: A Talent for War / Polaris / Seeker by Jack McDevitt (£4.99, couldn't resist . . . )
Gridlinked by Neal Asher
Snowblind by Ragnar Jónasson
The Wanderer by Fritz Leiber
Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein
HMS Ulysses by Alistair McLean

and a couple of second-hand paperbacks:

Cyteen and Rimrunners by C J Cherryh

Earbooks: Sword of the North, Sign of the Unicorn, Machine World (actually got it Tuesday and already listened to it - more popcorn fun), and the Fold by Peter Clines.

Somehow, I just ordered a copy of Poseidon's Wake, the final book in Alastair Reynolds newest series. It's not due out till 2016 here in the U.S. but I ordered a copy (I guess it's a U.K. edition).

So PG's advice was top notch...we popped up Shaftsbury Ave to Forbidden Planet (that store is bloody nerd NIRVANA!) and aside from the (typical) English rainstorm that soaked my wife and I, we made it and I was able to grab both SWORD OF DESTINY by Sapkowski and GENERATION V by Brennan. So all in all a great excursion, and PG you were right about the locations of all things in there. One might think you'd been in there a time or two?

Seveneves?

It was very well done. I just wish we had seen more of the 'epilogue'. Maybe he will write a sequel.

Bought the 6th Temeraire book TONGUES OF SERPENTS by Naomi Novik, I muchly enjoyed the first 3 books in the series, thought the 4th book was a little too stagnating and boring, and the 5th book not as good as the first 3 but not as boring as the 4th. So I've got decent sized hopes for the 6th...and as much as I love reading about Laurence and Temeraire...let's face facts, the character that makes these books so great is the ever impetuous Iskierka. Anyways, will get back into the series and hopefully catch up before the last book drops later this year.

Was picking up a library book for my son today, and on the "for sale" cart, I found hardcovers of Gene Wolfe's Home Fires and ICE's Stonewielder for 25 cents each. Score! (I didn't have any change with me, so I put a dollar bill in the box. 50 cents each is still a steal!) The best part is, being dust jacketed, I was able to remove all the library stickers and whatnot.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch
