Just downloaded the Grim Company by Luke Scull on my kindle. Not sure whether to dive into this or continue on with Tyrant's Law which I'm only 6% into.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Book Depository tempted me back with a 10% off gift coupon
since I now have a brand-new bookshelf:
"Air War" by Adrian Tchaikovsky--vol 8 of the "Shadows of the Apt"
"Bitter Seeds" by Ian Tregillis--because of the forum reccos
"Quicksilver" by Neal Stephenson--the first book of the Baroque cycle. I've enjoyed both Diamond Age and Snow Crash, so we'll see...

The Air War=awesome.
The series has been progressively getting better since around Book 3. But I didn't want to pay for the trade paperback (since it would make the books look bad on my shelf), and mmpb's not out in Canada yet.

I went on a bit of a splurge at Forbidden Planet while in London this week, and came back with these:
Old stuff that I wanted to own fr'reelz
Bujold: _Cordelia's Honor_ (collects _Shards of Honor_ and _Barrayar_)
_Young Miles_ (collects _The Vor Game_, _The Warrior's Apprentice_, and "The Mountains of Mourning", possibly the greatest short story I've ever read).
Jeff Noon: _Vurt_
Butcher: _Furies of Calderon_ (I gave my old copy away to someone when I wasn't impressed. I've since read the rest of the series).
New stuff that attracted me:
Stross: _Neptune's Brood_
Max Barry: _Lexicon_. Anyone read or heard anything about this one? Cover is cool, and blurb promises awesome rap battles, something like Long Price crossed with Badalle

It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Well thanks a lot, because now I had to as well... Luckily it was cheap on half.com.
The cover art looks suspiciously familiar to me. I probably ran across it at a Borders way back when, and passed it over because it seemed too weird. I must be getting stranger in my old age, because now it's the weirdness that appeals to me.

Just found the second Garrett P.I. omnibus at the used book store for $3. I think I owned this one before but it got lost in a move.

Oh, I don't know...204 Librarythingers list it. That's actually MORE popular than the average book in my collection. My median "same members" number is ~ 143. But maybe that's just more proof I'm an oddball.

My waiting has paid off and Book Depository sent me a "we miss you" coupon, which I used to buy reading for the next year ![:)](https://forum.malazanempire.com/public/style_emoticons/Malazan/D.gif)
I decided to scour the Other Lit sub-forum and grab a few books that were highly recommended by some familiar faces on here and that I wouldn't normally buy, so in the book order are Leviathan Wakes, The Stories of Ibis, Replay and The Quantum Thief. Cold Days is in there too, but I didn't need any recommendations for that!

The bolded one is SUCH a great collection of stories. I'm so glad I came across it so randomly. Enjoy!

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.
