Reading order:
Tigana
Fionovar Tapestry book 1 (I lasted about 50 pages)
Last Light of the Sun
Under Heaven
Lions of Al Rassan
Song for Arbonne
Ranking:
Under Heaven
Tigana
Lions of Al Rassan/Song for Arbonne (Lions had more highs, but Song didn't collapse at the end. Also, these two are very similar stories... if I'd read Song first, I might have placed it higher)
Last Light of the Sun (nothing greatly wrong with it, just unmemorable).
Fionavar Tapestry

Of the ones I've read . . .
Reading Order:
Tigana
Lions
Arbonne
Sarantine
Under Heaven
Ranking:
Lions
Sarantine
Arbonne
Tigana
Under Heaven
Lions is my favourite. The rest are close, as I enjoyed them all, apart from Under Heaven - which I think I just wasn't in the right mood for when I read it.

That book was quality, no other way to put it, such a clever book with a great ending, I instantly wanted to reread it.

Currently on my 're-read every Vorkosigan book ever', I picked up the omnibus _Miles, Mystery and Mayhem_ which was originally _Cetaganda_, _Ethan Of Athos_, and "Labyrinth". Just finished the first proper Miles book last night (_The Warrior's Apprentice_) and am loving the series all over again ![](https://forum.malazanempire.com/public/style_emoticons/Malazan/doh.gif)
Also picked up the second of Tad Williams's urban fantasy Bobby Dollar series, _Happy Hour in Hell_. Loved _The Dirty Streets of Heaven_, so really looking forward to this one.

It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Yesterday Chapters tempted me with a "buy 1, get 50% off coupon"...
So I bough yet ANOTHER Angry Robot omnibus--this one being Gav Thorpes, "Empire of the Blood", collecting a trilogy of what seems to be a more traditional low-fantasy fare. Angry Robot trilogies go from average (Nekropolis Archives) to pretty damn amazing (The Bookman Chronicles), and I usually tend to get my moneys's worth out of them, despite them being intensely genre-focused to a fault.
i also picked up Gavin Smith's "War in Heaven", which is a direct sequel to "Veteran". I though "Veteran" was a pretty great piece of cyberpunk/sci-fi mil fiction, and i'm looking forward to the sequel.

I remember you asking about it in the Has anyone read.. thread, but have you tried Obsidian & Blood by now? Just wondering, because you keep mentioning Angry Robot.

I don't know if you get "book hangovers" like I do (books that are so good the next couple of books are hard to get into)...but BLOOD SONG left me with a doozy of one.
Note: Ryan says that the second book, TOWER LORD, is HOPEFULLY due out Summer 2014.

No, I keep meaning to get it, but it's no longer on bookshelves... and since those tend to be impulse buys, I haven't really gotten around to planning to order it.

Haha, I am going through the same thing at this moment in time, I haven't picked up another book since I finished Blood Song as I am not sure what to read now, I have a feeling that none of the books I have to read will compare, especially after going straight from The Pagan Lord to Blood Song, hard acts to follow!

If you haven't seen that interview it's a decent one and the second book is finished so I cannot see any set backs, just the wait is a killer!

Bought Emperor of Thorns for Kindle. I'll get the paperback when it comes out, too, to complete the set on the shelf

Ordered Guards! Guards! (Pratchett) and Empire in Black and Gold (Tchaikovsky).
I have minor qualms about both. The former will be my first Pratchett novel and I'm hoping I've picked a decent intro to Discworld. I got the latter mostly on a whim. I didn't know what to make of the Shadows of the Apt thread. Very little in the way of consensus there (except for praise for The Air War) but enough to intrigue me.

Guards! Guards! is brilliant, but Empire in Black and Gold was too predictable and bland to do anything for me. I tried to give the series another shot With book two, but that was even worse.
Supposedly it gets better

Yes! Guards! Guards! is excellent, although the Watch series does get even better thereafter. :-D
