The Book I bought today is...

I like the Half-Made World a lot (huge fan of Gilman in general, he's a buy-on-release author for me) but it's probably his weakest (least-strongest?) work. The sequel is better. It takes a completely different approach that adds a liveliness the first one didn't have.
All his stuff is well worth the read imo though.

More Star Wars GNs to complete the collection - KNIGHT ERRANT vol 2, AGENT OF THE EMPIRE vol 1, and LOST TRIBE OF THE SITH.
Plus CRIMSON EMPIRE in HB.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Grab let me know what you think of Great N Road I been eyeballing that one.
Not impressed at all. I think I've said it elsewhere, but the Great North Road made me speculate that Hamilton had suffered a stroke which, though in no way imparing his ability as a writer, made him forget ever having written the Commonwealth books.
It's basically the exact same concept, just with a slightly (and I mean only slightly) different cast.

For someone who's only read Night's Dawn, would you recommend reading Commonwealth, or TGNR?

The Commonwealth is done as a series, and so definitly the one I would advice you to read. I also found the cast to be more interesting than in the Greath North Road.
Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained make up an excellent space opera that I think everyone should read, with an excellent cast, a menacing evil and conspiracies within conspiracies. I was not nearly as impressed by the second series however, but it was still head and shoulders above most space opera around.

Now you're in it. Now you're right, the fuck, in it.
It's a very different book from HD, but the pay-off... the payoff is fucking. HUGE. fuck.
Enjoy!
Was back into Sullivan's RIYRIA and luvin' it, but Hearn's latest Iron Druid, HUNTED, is arriving into my grubby little hands tomorrow. May have to pause Hardian and Royce to hang with Atticus and Oberon for a bit.

I believe this is termed a Win Win.

It's win-win for everyone! [/dept of redundancy dept]
...but yeah, that's how i see it. Pretty psyched for HUNTED, advance revs are putting it as one of the best in the series.

Just bought Abaddon's Gate for $4.99 on my kindle. I was going to wait for the audiobook but I've no idea when it's going to be released and I'm tired of waiting and $4.99 is a hell of a good price.

Has anyone read something of Miéville? If that's the case is something worth buying?

Good God, man, Mieville's one of the biggest hitters around. Start with Perdido Street Station, then try the Scar, then read everything. He's good. He's great. Everything he's written is worth reading. Read them all. Enjoy.

Mieville is The Big Dog of fantasy these days. Especially non-Medieval fantasy.
He's also utterly brilliant. My favourite author, currently. The Scar is basically flawless. It's my read-once-a-year book.

I also got this strange book, Gardens of the Moon, from my grandparents. Have any of you guys read it? What did you think?
