lol thanx 4 the support sum of u, i guess every1 has a tripping day. I think i felt dissaponted in redmasks story it seems like SE included it so that a chuck of the letherii army(and their most talented commander), isnt around, to stop the miraculous invasion of lether by 1000 malazan commandos. I guess in my head i wanted to romantasize the redmask story making it relevent to the other events.

Ah no, Redmask's story was there to introduce a war between the Barghast and K'Chain Che'Malle :(

I can see the links:

- they both turned against their native country, Lether

- both led or aided military campaigns against that country

- both had hard-to-understand or unclear motivations

- both acted on those motivations in (apparently) stupid and inept ways

- both got suddenly killed, in a manner that added nothing to the story

- neither was well-explored as a character, and a result readers have little insight or interest in them (moreso for Hull, but still the case with Redmask)

Against this theory, you have

- they are not the same person

But apart from that it is certainly an interesting comparison. Not every character in a series can be a star, but personally I hope in future SE gives us more Trulls, less Hulls.

I'm not a student any more. Now I have to do this thing called work, and it takes up a surprising amount of your time.

Thank you for the kind comments though.

Amen brother.

You get out of college and realize that sitting around doing nothing actually costs you money...life is cruel.

It will be interesting to see the ramifications of the Redmask storyline...if any. I do like the idea of the story just being a lead in to a bigger conflict between the Barghast and the K'Chain.

The warrior who the K'Chain killed on the horse??...who was thought to be Redmask was not. 1. why would they kill there mortal sword. 2. when Toc'Anaster died after all the Awl had been wiped out a warrior came and took his face. its been awhile since i've read the book but i remember Redmask doing this b4... pls correct me if i'm wrong...but...Redmask aint dead

Plus it was from the actual Redmask's PoV as far as we can tell.

They didn't say it wasn't redmask, they just remarked on him being letheri. That was the big secret Redmask killed the elder to hide.

Yeah, sorry to say, Redmask is dead. He just wasn't an Awl. I've read it several times to make sure, there's no way he can't be dead, as it's written from his PoV.

Even with the scolding i have received, someone decided I wont be able to get the message about incorrectly spelling in thread titles, so they decided to bring the full weight off justice down upon me. Thanx for the negative reps mate and i appreciate your mercy for leaving me my last 5 reps.

"Please use a spell checker or even read over your posts, good god my eyes are bleeding."
Oh yeah please do not leave me demeaning and ungainly comments. Your eyes are bleeding mate???? Lol and i thought i was melodramatic, i mean come on.. the difference in redmask and redmast its a T and K, with all the crap on the internet its this that makes your eyes bleed.

Don't worry, you'll get other rep soon enough. I do recommend using correct grammar as a general rule if you want people to have respect for your posts though, I think the comment was probably in issue with your second post.

Other than that, there is no problem with your posts. People just have different responses to this type of issue, I wouldn't worry about it unless it bothers you too much.

5 rep is nothing, I have 59 and others have upto 160. 5 is a small issue.

Just have to say that Redmask is dead, it was in his PoV when he got killed, I can't imagine that some random dude would lie to himself in his last moments of life just to trick the reader into thinking that Redmask died.

I thought that the Redmask we see killed, reading from his point of view, isnt really the real Redmask, but an imposter, placed well before the start of the book. We have yet to read about the real Redmask.

Like a Belson P.O.W on a diet, I know, but hey ... it was just the feeling I had when I first read them saying that he's not Redmask.

I agree with you. I thought he was the most pointless man I've ever read about in any book, ever. I just don't think he's dead:D
