Look around on the internet and find weird shit about MBotF. There's a lot of weird covers on Google.

Look at these two:

Is this supposed to be "The Chain of Dogs"? Looks like the Dustbunnies of Thyrlan

This one is actually very cool, I guess it's Raest fighting the dragons.

EDIT: Yes I get this is a bit Offtopic from Normal RG stuff, but spoilers might show up, etc.

I agree, the second one is remotely interesting.

The first one is perhaps one of the worst interpretations I've ever cared to take note of. What is that face in the background, it doesn't even look decent. Who would buy that book?!

It's an owl with fangs, clearly. Haven't you heard of the terrible and dreaded Owls of Light?

This was gonna be the Portugese cover for GotM, but I dunno if it ever was used...

@Apt - but why does that second one say it's Book 2?

I'd say the first one looks like an overly hairy gremlin, more than an owl.

It is one of the ugliest things I have seen.

The Portugese cover I really like.

having said that, i agree with wolf about the portugese cover. its a bit more interesting than the guy with lightning coming out his sword.

I know that in some countries, among them I think Poland, they split the books up into parts. Perhaps it's because of their size?

Did they just abruptly end the book at a random chapter about half way through then?

Or does you knowledge not reach that far.

The Malazan Books are already split into smaller books, remember? Looking in GotM I see it is actually spilt into 7 books and it fits neatly with a split between book 3 and 4 which is at page 349, halfway through the book.

brilliance.

Here's some more:

This one rocks, all though Dragnipur has become a halberd.

And this ones just plain weird. Apparently the hounds statues are about 2 meters tall :)

Damn cool Raest cover.

That Deadhouse Gates is just so so so wrong. Nature should not be tampered with - the original is perfect!

I don't know who created that contraption of a piece, but wouldn't it be amusing/not funny at all if SE was the one to create that cover.

The german books are also split into 2 parts, except GotM.
Book 1: GotM (same name, just in german)
Book 2: 1st part of Deadhouse Gates called "In the empire of seven cities" ( "Reich" = Empire and "Sieben Städte" = Seven Cities)
Book 3: 2nd part of Deadhouse Gates called "in the ban (? spell? binding? dunno ^^) of the desert"
Book 4: 1st part of Memories of Ice called "the icy age" (or time, but age fits better imho)
Book 5: 2nd part of Memories of Ice called "the day of the seer"
Book 6: 1st part of House of Chains called "war of the sisters"
Book 7: 2nd part of House of Chains called "house of chains"
Book 8: 1st part of Midnight Tides called "children of shadow"
Book 9: 2nd part of Midnight Tides called "tides of the night"
Book 10: 1st part of Bonehunters called "the fire of the rebellion" (how fitting, remember y'ghatan?)
Book 11: 2nd part of Bonehunters called "the bonehunters"
Reapers Gale isn't translated yet...

Some pics are a bit small.
Cover of book 2 = cover of Deadhouse Gates.
Cover of book 4 = T'lan Imass attacking some castle.
Cover of book 5 = ruined buildings + water, Coral or Capustan is my guess
Cover of book 6 = strange woman in armor, either Lostara or Tavore... or Felisin
Cover of book 7 = even stranger "druid"-looking guys...and ugly colors....

And that was a small overview over the german version. :)

Interesting presentation.

The covers for especially Midnight tides and Bonehunters are very cool. Not very specific for the books but since when has this been a problem.

The second book in MoI looks nothing like fantasy, it looks like the cover for some vacation brochure :)

The first book in HoC is that supposed to be felisin/shaik in her battle armor? The second one is strange, is it the apocalypses mage cadre? I thought they were only four

I'm almost jealous of the german readers. Have some rep for adding to the thread.

Nice, the Book 11 one looks like an Imass Bonecaster whose (who's? damn grammar) Soletaken form is some kind of bear that's eaten a sun, defending the throne from the Edur. Even considering that was a Bonehunters scene, I'll let them off for considerable coolness. Why can't more companies use those covers?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I liked that one with gruntle and stonny on the cover, and it looked like one of those cheap fabio romance novels. i can't find the link. it was an italian cover i think, it's been posted here before.

I think you'll find that was the official American MOI cover.

I like MoI US. The cover is what caught my eye in the bookstore and made me decide to read the series.
