hmmm..
Im not so sure that lends a lot of support to the CG. My interpretation of that passage is "the Edur were the intruders, yett hey became part of the world"... it's kinda ambiguous, lol....
also, since this is stuff from tBH in a the RG forum, you don't need the spoiler tags

You don't have to put what people read post RG in a spoiler. You can put NoK and Erikson novella info in spoilers if it ruins the experience of reading those books. This does not need to be in a spoiler.
It's a pretty juicy quote though. I didn't remember that wording. It sort of implies that The Eres'al, not the EGs or the rest of the pantheon, is the nemisis of the CG and the solution to his corruption.
Did the CG not realise and plan for this from the start? If he did why didn't he have all the Nerek hunted down and slayin, seeing as it was them that could be seen as releasing the Eres'al in Wu's presence.
I wonder when this child shows up. Will it be born in the distant past of the Eres. Is it supposed to be a new race?

I'd agree that it's incorrect to call the CG the god "of" anything in the world, at least to begin with when he was first called down. Of course, there's a long history of new gods/ascendants assuming long-abandoned aspects/etc of older gods/ascendants (ST and Cotillion being the most obvious examples).
I seriously doubt that the CG was even anything of a bad guy in the beginning. The prologue to MoI suggests that it was the effects of the Fall that made him what he is:
In this sense, the CG is a victim more than anything else, which is an interesting parallel with the Pannion Seer.
I wonder if the sorcery that punched a hole through the realms to call him down could be reproduced? Maybe by QB? The most obvious solution is to send him home rather than chain him again. But that speculation belongs elsewhere...

Quote
Pain gave birth to rage. Rage, to poison...
Quote
His pain was fire, screams and thunder, a voice that had been heard by half the world. Pain, and outrage. And, K'rul reflected, grief. It would be a long time before the foreign god could begin to reclaim the remaining fragments of it's life, and so begin to unveil it's nature. K'rul feared that day's arrival. From such a shattering could only come madness.
Quote
...to then lure a curious god of that realm closer, ever closer to the trap they had prepared.

RE: the Great Ravens, it's a little tough to tell what's going on there. Are the repositories of power, such that they absorbed the CG's power when they were being born? Or is their power absorbing capability part of the CG's capability--the power the Ravens hold is indeed what the CG would have were he whole again.
As far as I can recall, the Ravens have never actually shown any power, except for some prophecy stuff in GotM and maybe MoI. Rake and Brood think Crone's potential is "appalling," indicating that they believe the Ravens are capable of doing something with their power.

The way I see it, this reads the CG as being the potential intruder, from another realm, bereft of his innocence, and the child within the Eres'al is the counterbalance, to heal and correct the mistakes that were caused by his fall. We all know that SE's written that Shadow was being sundered even before Scabandari Bloodeye spilled blood in Kurald Emurlahn, so this is quite possibly a lead into showing us the background and depth of the origins of what we're lead to believe is the main maligned character within the books.
It also lends credence to the possibility that Kallor is worse than we've been lead to believe, as it was his actions that led the mages to pull the CG down in the first place.

This passage has nothing to do with the CG. It is discussing the child of Trull and the Eres'al. The realm without innocence is Kurald Emurlahn. We know that Trull was raped by the Eres'al, and Bottle says that the father of the baby is Tiste Edur. It isn't hard to piece together.
The interesting hypothesis is that Kettle is that child, and got to be the age she was in MT thanks to the Eres'al's time travel shenanigans. But I'm not as convinced that that is the case after RG. What with Kettle being dead and all, and so highly unlikely to take the Shadow Throne.

Found an interesting quote in MOI... this is Crone thinking when Silverfox almost reveals the origin of the Great Ravens in the CG's flesh post-fall:
Quote
Aye, we were there at Fall itself! The Great Ravens were born like maggots in the flesh of the Fallen One and that, oh, that will damn us! But wait! Have we not been honourable guardians of the Crippled God's magic? (snip) A magic we can unleash, if forced to. Ah, child, you threaten so much with your careless words
Hmm... never thought abut it before, but that is such an interesting quote.
If the Ravens are guardians of the CG's power, will there be room for them in the House of Chains in TTH? Or will that power be part of a more long-term gambit the CG has in mind. Can it ever be "returned" to him?
Aah, the possibilities...

It's ambiguous enough. Maybe by guarding it, the Ravens are actively engaged in preventing him from having it back? (This need not be for altruistic reasons, btw.)

The CG and the ravens are not friends as far as we know.

if the crows are the guardians of the CG's power, that would make them the "small nearly lifeless warrens" that the CG's power was secreted in. that qoute is from BH somewhere i believe. Cot and EW's little talk
