Nightchill was killed by a Kenryll'ah demon in GotM. Bellurdan then killed it with his bare hands - but he was a Thelomen.

Rake says to Baruk that he dismissed demons that Tayschrenn had summoned onto the battlefield to attack his fellow Malazans, but we only saw the one demon that Bellurdan killed.

The MT Glossary gives the two related types as "Ken'ryllah" and "Kenyll'rah", note that the first only differs from the GotM spelling in the position of the apostrophe. The cannon fodder demons the Edur used as ground troops were latter, and the two princes mentioned above were of the former.

Lilac, the demon that Trull has healed and released into his care, was a Kenyll'rah. He was dying of mundane wounds, he'd been shot with crossbow bolts. He was a fisherman. From his dialogue, the Ken'ryllah are the dominant demon type, they form the ruling class of which the two princes are members. They seem to be stronger than Lilac, who was a peasant fisherman, not even soldier.

As for what can kill them, the princes were clearly more powerful than Lilac. Lilac was fast and strong, but vulnerable. The princes were also fast and strong, but capable of taking much more punishment. Whether this reflects differences between the races, or the fact that the princes were very powerful individuals and Lilac was a nobody, I don't know.

I'm sure we discussed this before but can someone please remind me:

Do all Demons come from whatever world the Aral Gamelon warren is, or is that a warren that allows you the power to summon a Demon from an unknown number of worlds??

All demons don't come from Gamelon.

Aptorians are from the shadow realm. I think Greyfrog is from a different place aswell. In fact, in the Malaz world, a demon just seems to be the name for extra terrestrials. There are "christian religion" type demons in the Korbald Broach books, but I think they are not canon, just an Erikson experiment.

My pet theory is that Gamelon is a place like Wu. A "normal world" not magical or connected to Wu. It is a bit of a mystery why "Aral Gamelon" sounds like a warren Tay can pull things out of, if it indeed is a independant realm like it seems in MT.

We've seen or heard that Tay and Korbald Broach have summoned and bound demons. How they do this is uncertain. Are they using Mocra to bind their will? The one Broach used had a magical chain that Quick unwound.

We've seen Gryllen, Broach and even Panion doing this to undead creatures, supposedly this is a trick of death, "Hood sorcery".

Perhaps by using a warrens magic you can also control the warrens inhabitants if they are magically aspected. This doesn't explain how you control Aral Gamelon creatures like the Kenryallah though.

Perhaps Kenrylala warriors actually serve willingly, seeking glory in battle, a meaningfull death or something while Lilac was the victim of a Edur-Kenrylala war pact that saw them sold as canonfodder.

EDIT: Suddenly it hits me, that demon in MoI that tries to eat Quick when he frees it, was that a greyfrog demon? It had a big mouth and had a jumpattack I think.

Another important example of demonic summoning and chaining was Baruk. He summoned a few different demons and his method of control seemed to be to involve forcing them to do things against their will for a period of time.

Whereas the demons that Tayschrenn controlled (the first Pearl, the Galayn Lord) did not seem so clearly to be captives against their will.

Greyfrog isn't a frog... :D I think L'oric picked him up in a realm where his kind were nearly extinct/ where he was near to dying. He was picked up because the T'lan Imass realized that the Liosan god was an impostor (a familiar put there by L'oric to hide the fact of Osserc's departure)

Don't have HOC on me... can anyone give a reference?

I'm fairly sure Greyfrog is in-fact a Sirinth. In Bonehunters, he describes his homeland as having a series of spawning pools, and after suffering greivous injuries, he regenerates himself. He is additionally described as looking like a toad, and having a wide jaw with which he consumes the brains of enemies, aided by the fact that he is extremely quick at short distances because of his hind legs.
An excerpt from Memories of Ice pg. 490-491, describing a Sirinth-
"Swathed in folds of toad-like skin, splay-limbed, with a wide, low head that was mostly jaws and fangs, the Sirinth massed more then a bhederin-bull. In short bursts, however, it could be lightning fast."

The Sirinth? When do we see it? Is it the demon Korbald Broach used as a guard?

I think Bauchelain is the demonic summoner, where as Korbal Broach is obsessed with making life; a "child" of his own, since he cannot produce one in the normal manner, thus his slaughtering of civilians and harvesting their organs.
‘Keep on like that and I’ll drop a rock on your head while you sleep.’

"I'm harmless, the non-violent kind of psycho."

'"If a tree falls in the woods and there is nobody there to hear it, does it makes a sound?"' the answer is an unequivocal "no." The falling tree simply produces waves of energy. The experience of "sound" is a phenomenon of the auditory system.'
