I had hoped the extended camping trip would mean Harry and Hermione hooking up, as I hate the Harry/Ginny pairing... but alas.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

At least with most of the camping they just would say "three months later..."
But being someone who loves to camp I was very envious of thier tent. I would love to be able to fit everything in one bag....sigh...

Nah, I dug the camping. I didn't mind it at all. I mean look how long Frodo and crew wandered around walking and singing for in FOTR...LOL
...and I LOVE the Harry Ginny pairing. Cause Ginny rules.

Having just see the OOTPhoenix movie post finishing book 7, it's interesting to speculate how the movie peeps must have had some insight into how the books will conclude, even tho the movie and book production schedules wouldn't have been the same, with the purpose of setting things up for the last two films, given how much of the books it's necessary to cut for a movie to work.
Case in point, Ginny had precisely no dialogue in the movie except to periodically blow things up so the boys could all stand there looking impressed, but they managed to throw in a bunch of emotional glances by her every time Harry went off for some of the most chaste, bogus, hands-off snogging in the history of film with Cho. Snape, whose been all but cut out of the last two movies, actually had some presence this time. And they spent more time setting up Bellatrix as a baddy than i think the book version did.
The thestrals were just awful CG work tho'. The hippogrif and the dragons in past movies were far better done. I did think this movie held together better than the last few overall.

I liked the thestrals... Grawp was crap though.
And you have the Ginny thing, but on the other hand the design of Grimmauld Place means that entire part of the last book will have to be changed, as they're meant to be apparating on the doorstep. They left something else out too, but I can't remember what it was now.

I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I'm somewhat miffed that they've cut Dobby out of the movies, because it means one of the best scenes in Deathly Hallows won't occur when the 7th film is made.
Psha. She was an annoying tag along, and I was quite glad she wasn't featured too much in the last book. If she had gone along with the trio looking for horcruxes... well, I would have been quite unhappy. She's only paired with Harry so that he can "officially" become a member of the Weasley family.

....
....
The limits of time and CGI.
I thought his death in DH was sort of thrown in - they're in a trap! what to do!?!?! Dobby saves them!!! Oh, look, he is stabbeded!!!! Awwww.... poor Dobby. Frankly, Hedwig getting deep fried got more of a reaction from me. I can't believe JKR didn't pull a last minute return on the bird.

IMO the last movie was horrible!!!..It was way off the book(way more than I thought was needed). If I hadn't read it twice I would have been lost as to what was going on. I was shocked JKR signed off on it. Me and a friend (who is also a big fan) went and seen it together. We were both just sitting there with jaws hanging open wondering what the hell happened to the story.
A big disappointment IMO. But still a BIG fan.

They weren't going to put Kreacher in the film..and JK was like..."Uh..you MIGHT want to keep him in"..LOL

I liked the OotP movie. Sure there was a lot missing, but it didn't stop me enjoying the movie. I noticed Lilly wasn't in Snape's worst memory. She should have been there, given how important she was to Snape.

yeah, but it was so fleeting a glimpse. I DO believe however, that the scene was shot longer (and may have been cut down) because they did actually CAST a girl to play young Lily Potter.

I think cutting out the explanation of the prophecies beginning, and why Dumbledor kept Tawny close really confused the hole thread.

I really enjoyed the book but right at the end i was a bit disappointed that JKR didn't mention exactly what harry, ron and hermoine did after hogwarts. Did harry become an auror? And whose child was victoire? Was she bill and fleurs son? Or the son of victor krum and someone?
And yes they did seem to spend a lot of time in their tent....

She did an interview where she told a load of stuff about them. Harry and Ron are Aurors, Hermione is a lawyer, Victoire was Bill and Fleur's eldest daughter, yes.
I'm sure there's a link to it somewhere. I dunno where though, sorry.

She's also going to do a big Encyclopedia which will explain what happened later to lots of characters. I wouldn't expect it for a few years though.
