Who has Fedor faced that is a better wrestler than Lesner? I'm not being confrontational, I'm just asking.

Coleman was a two time MAC champ, one time NCAA champ and got 7th at the 1992 Olympics in freestyle. Fedor armbarred him from the bottom in one of the most ridiculous submissions I've ever seen.

Randleman was a two time NCAA champ (at 177 though). Fedor survived a ridiculous suplex from him, reversed and got the kimura on him.

Neither has the size and strength of Lesnar, but both have similar or better success in the wrestling world. I'd say Fedor has met wrestlers with better technique and more explosive ability.

Fedor has faced people who are better at everything than Brock - bigger, better wrestlers, heavier, better strikers - and beat them all with ease.

As hyped as late '90s Coleman was, I don't think Fedor has yet faced a person who had all of the physical abilities and skills Lesnar has. We'll see how he does against Barnett, someone who I rank as pretty comparable to Lesnar in terms of the overall HW rankings.

dude Nogueria doesn't want to fight Lesnar thats why he threw his fight with Mir.

Quit being a troll. Nog had staph and a blown knee against Mir, if you're actually being serious. Granted the Herring fight was atrocious as well.

I don't think Lesner would have much trouble with Nog. Mir is better than Nog is (not Nog in his prime, Nog now), and we just saw how well he did against Lesner.

I don't know. We'll see how Nog does against Couture and see if he's back to PRIDE form or he truly has gone downhill. I'd consider Nog less of an underdog against Lesnar - still an underdog though.

I had forgotten Randleman and Coleman had that kind of wrestling pedigree. Thanks.

Regarding Nog, he's made a career out of getting thumped for 10 minutes and then pulling off a slick sub. Mad respect for him, but that's not the kind of fight style that leads to longevity. He hasn't looked good since coming over to the ufc. While his sub skills will always make him dangerous, I don't think he has anything to throw at Lesner that Mir doesn't have.

I wonder who would win a grappling match between Mir and Nog.

The Fedor VS Brock fight looks like it might happen, im sure most of you have read it already...

http://www.cbssports.../story/11950891

we will see if White can actually pull it together...

he says he will make it happen... i hope he can, he is on a time limit because he needs to get them together before either has a loss in order to keep the hype/bucks up.

Nog would destroy Mir in a grappling match. Doesn't matter if it was gi or no-gi. Nog might be one of the few people in MMA who could have conceivably won a world championship in grappling (BJ Penn and possibly Fedor are the others that come to mind) and held a big promotion title belt at the same time.

I share your doubts about him though - to a lesser degree. I think he's way less done than Coleman, who looked pathetic even in his victory over Bonnar.

Affliction might fold after this card they put on. Losing a lot of money over there. They're talking about locking Fedor up until 2012, but so far it's just noise to me.

If I remember right, the sticking points for the Fedor/UFC negotiations are the co-promotion with M-1, allowing Fedor to do the combat sambo tourneys and holding shows in Russia. I have no idea if things have changed, but I think the one-shot thing Cro Cop did (which possibly wasn't so one-shot [Dos Santos says he's up against Mirko soon]) is a good sign it could happen.

Here's a short video breaking down how Lesner was using technique, not just size and strength on Mir.

Oh boy, Affliction is screwed. Scrambling for a replacement for barnett, looks like the best possibilities are Vitor Belfort or Jeff MOnson. Ugh.

Thats a crazy thing to happen, especially at that level... Josh Barnett should know better...

testing positive for anobolic steroids just cost him the biggest fight of his career...

The thing I really don't get is that Barnett himself says he scheduled the drug test - as his license had expired. If the reports of testing positive for drostanolone are correct, then that is so idiotic as to cause me to question his sanity. CSAC says it was a random test, which is much more plausible.

Bloody Elbow is saying that drostanolone is a three weeks and out of the body steroid, so if he'd only faced "day of" testing, he'd have probably passed.

I doubt strength was going to matter in that fight as his boxing or grappling abilities. Gaaaaaaaah. Ruined the card. Gaaaaaaaah.

Scrambling for a replacement. Looking like vitor Belfort, a middleweight, or Jeff Monson, an anarchist grappler who once lost a 5 round decision to Tim Sylvia.

Belfort would not be bad... the phenom is a great fighter,

does he have what it takes to defeat Fedor, probably not, but he does have the strikers chance, and enough experience to make it count.

There was talk about getting Brett Rogers to fight too, but there where some contract disputes in the way... that could be an interesting fight

Belfort would walk into that fight at 215-220 easily, so the weight isnt to big of a deal

Belfort was at 200 recently. He was cutting down to 185, while Fedor's holding steady at 230ish. That's a considerable advantage and I hope Belfort is getting enough money to compensate for that.

Affliction: Trilogy is canceled.

Barnett deserves every little bit of crap he's going to get for the rest of his career for this.

Wow, I agree, Barnett really dropped the ball, alot of Affliction fighters got hurt by the loss of this card... and the company folded too...granted it probably would have failed anyway, it wouldnt so soon...

granted with an organization that big you should always have back ups... nothing is gauranteed, while you cant anticipate drug test failure, injuries are common enough that you should always have a back up plan...

on the bright side, this might help the Fedor vs Brock fight come around alot faster...

hopefully UFC gets the contracts or maybe they will get released
