Kimbo had the slowest sweep from bottom into mount I've ever seen. Both these guys were awful on the ground.

The Carano fight was entertaining, even if both gassed pretty quick. Actually, gassing was an issue in the Slice/Thompson fight too.

Baroni got his ass handed to him. I haven't seen the Lawler/Smith fight, but I know Smith puts on a show every time he's out there.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Two controversial endings in the two main events, not good for elitexc. Has anyone heard how it did ratings-wise? Anyone catch the Liddell Documentary last night?

For anyone who didn't know, huge WEC fight on tonight at 6 pacifc. Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver for the featherweight title, free on versus. Watch it.

Good fights! The Faber fight and the Torres fight, both for belts were excellent. The little guys cab be a lot of fun to watch, non-stop action.

Saw both events. Elite XC was good for the first Primetime MMA event in North America ever. I hate Kimbo, because of all the attention he gets for doing nothing. I was rooting for James Thompson the entire time.

Lawler/Smith was a good fight. Controversial end, but it was still a really good fight.

Elite XC got a preliminary rating of 2.7, not counting the main event. Official tallies will be in Tuesday morning. Source: http://www.sherdog.c....asp?n_id=13004

Watched the WEC. That was great. I've trained with Miguel Torres on many occasions, and he's absolutely awesome. I enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the next DREAM card, though. Huge lightweight tournament.

I can' believe there's already another UFC this weekend. Not the best card ever, but should be worth watching.

When is that show? I doubt I'll see it, as I've yet to pay for a ppv, but who knows, maybe I can find somewhere showing it for free.

The ratings jumped significantly for the Slice fight. I saw a couple places mentioning high 3s, but I've also seen several anti-MMA columns in the paper the days after. I think I'm going to write in to the big local around here and call them out for purposely running an idiotic column to try and garner attention.

Whoa. If that's true, I'm impressed. Torres looked like he was skilled and comfortable in every phase of the game. Both guys were so active all the time, but it clearly tilted the Quicksand Octopus's way when Maeda realized he couldn't get much going on the ground.

Maeda must be an absolute delight to be around. I've never seen so many people in the ring express genuine respect and condolences to a guy who just lost a great fight.

Pulver took so many solid punches to the head and stayed coherent. Ugh.

http://afflictionbanned.com/

sylvia/fedor
ben rothwell/arlovski(rumored, rothwell confirmed it but the org hasnt)
barnett/pedro rizzo
lindland/fabio negao
babalu/mike whitehead

insane fight card, though i would have been happier if barnett got fedor. he does get a chance to avenge his first loss(to rizzo), but barnett is a far better opponent than sylvia and imho a better draw.

Yeah. The new results look even better than the preliminary ones. This is exciting times for MMA! Even if it was an abortion of an MMA card...

Here's WEC salaries off of mmajunkie.com. These guys are getting paid crap! The Faber and Torres fights were some of the best I've seen in a while anywhere, and look at the chump change they're fighting for! These numbers are with win bonuses figured in (but only for the winners...Durr....)

* Urijah Faber ($44,000) def. Jens Pulver ($33,000)
* Miguel Torres ($28,000) def. Yoshiro Maeda ($6,000)
* Mark Munoz ($16,000) def. Chuck Grigsby ($3,000)
* Rob McCullough ($32,000) def. Kenneth Alexander ($3,000)
* Donald Cerrone ($10,000) def. Danny Castillo ($3000)
* Mike Brown ($10,000) def. Jeff Curran ($10,000)
* Will Ribeiro ($6,000) def. Chase Beebe ($7,000)
* Tim McKenzie ($12,000) def. Jeremy Lang ($4,000)
* Alex Serdyukov ($6,000) def. Luis Sapo ($3,000)
* Jose Aldo ($6,000) def. Alexandre Franca Nogueira ($8,000)
* Dominic Cruz ($6,000) def. Charlie Valencia ($7,000)

Disappointing, but at least they have good sponsorships.

When I competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I had some pretty epic sponsorship deals going and I didn't even fight MMA at a high level.

Didn't really like EliteXC, though I always appreciate getting to see more MMA. The commentators are a bit annoying, and Kimbo as main event is degrading for the sport.

who else do people know?

you could televise the affliction card(as i posted above, one of the best cards ive seen) on national tv with fedor headlining and noone but the hardcore would watch because those millions that tuned in have no idea who fedor is

True, maybe it's good marketing. But the whole atmosphere in UFC or WEC is better, and might in the long run get more people interested than the more blood-thirsty angle in EliteXC. IMHO.

Alves missed weight. That pisses me off. Have some respect for the sport and your opponent.

Who's watching UFC tomorrow? No blockbuster fights, but overall a pretty solid card. I guess here in the states it'll be on tape delay. Oh well, I gues i just have to make sure not to check out my usual mma sites until afterwards.

Definitely will see it, but by eh alternative means since that's the only way I can. Watched some IFL yesterday, some really good fights and I liked the whole production. Didn't think much of it beforehand, what with the teams and so on, but it was really entertaining.

I'll be watching it. Some pretty competitive matchups. Any MMA is good MMA.
