Ok. I'm a bit confused and was hoping someone could shed some light....

I'm a bit confused as to where Midnight Tides fits into the grand timeline of the other books... Does it continue straight after the previous book ended or is it more like an offshoot book talking about events of the past?

If anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate it.

Oh, and does anyone know why book 5 came out 6 months after book 6? ^^

The timeline is reasonable. Midnight Tides takes place circa 2 (but more likely 3 years) before Reaper's Gale and the timeline more or less works out on that basis. We know more than a year passes between the events of The Bonehunters and Reaper's Gale, and all events up to the end of The Bonehunters take place in 1164, with the possibility of some overlap into 1165. Reaper's Gale thus takes place in late 1165 or early-to-mid 1166.
