I don't want to just re-list a bunch that have already been said, but one of my all-time favorites has yet to be mentioned I think...

Vanyel of The Last Herald-Mage Trilogy

Hmm... here are some of my favorites:

Tyrion Lannister - small and stunted, but oh sooo quick of wit.

Arya Stark - who knew a ten year old psycho could be so entertaining?

Uther Doul - just so damn cool

The Brucolac - see above

Can you tell that Martin and Mieville are two of my preffered authors?

There are some characters in fantasy that truly take you into that world, to ride their shoulders, see what they see and feel what they feel.

Some characters really did it for me (and I'll be absolutly slandered for a couple I think).

Kruppe - Bless his oily backside.
Mat - from WoT
Quick Ben
Karsa
Deanerys
Tyrion
Coltain
FitzChivalry Farseer
Urza - from Magic the Gathering (I was young)
Pug
Aragorn
Gimli
Legolas
Merlin - From the miniseries with Sam Neil
and Duiker

They are the ones that I really liked and related to.

I'd like to know what characters you really enjoyed reading about and skipped other chapters for.

Elric (@Frantic...my boat will be named Stormbringer...)
The Hunter=Gerald Tarrant (Cold Fire Trilogy...great char)
Lady (best villain...or is it hero)

Three of the best...

4. Whiskeyjack
5. Duiker/Heboric

The only one I really can't stand is Felisin but she also has a charm of her own in a way.

There most certainly are books, written by James Mallory. If you loved the miniseries there's no doubt you'll lovethese as well. They're basicaly the same story, but the books have a few extra events and some interesting backstory. I personally preferred them to the Hallmark series, slightly, but the TV show was quite good as well.

This page has link to the other two books as well.
