I think if I listed mine, I'd just be repeating what most of you have already said. However, the one I can say that is the first one that came to mind would be The Fool, from the first set of Hobbs books. Of course, I seem to drift towards favoring fools and assassins anyway.

Mustrum Ridcully - Pratchett ( I cant understand why no has mentioned this guy..
He is great, indeed, and if I had picked a Pratchett character it would be him. Even though there's plenty of other good ones to choose from.

In no particular order:
Tyrion Lannister (GRRM - aSoIaF) - well OK, I mention him first because he probably is my favorite character in all of fantasy...
Fiddler
Kruppe
Iskaral Pust
Anasurimbor Kellhus (Bakker - Prince of Nothing)
Mat Cauthon (WoT - only really interesting character in the series at this point)
I think what makes these characters so good is that it really seems the authors have a blast when they write about them.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

@Mithfanion. There are BOOKS!!!!! I had no idea there were books. What are they and are they anything like the movie. Which is the greatest movie of all time!!! Why didn't anyone tell me there were books?
I've read a couple of Artharians but nothing that was like Merlin. I've been hinting for months to my family that I want the DVD of it for my B'day. If there are books to and they are sold in Aus then I'll be a very happy man.

The first ten million years were the worst, said Marvin, and the second ten million, they were the worst too. The third ten million I didn't enjoy at all. After that I went into a bit of a decline.
