huh
I ordered Hardback RotCG from Chapters in Aug. It was supposed to come in early Sept
it didn't
in th elast week of September, i decided "screw it", cancellled my pre-order, ordered the Trade paperback instead (release date-Oct 28th)
last thursday, I got a call that my Trade paperback arrived in store.
today I got a call that my cancelled hardcopy got delivered.

moral of the story?
next time I'll use Amazon.

would amazon really be better - at least in the US, it doesn't show that the book is available at all - only from other sellers. Seriously, WTF is going on? If this really isn't going to get released in the US, I'll order from Canada or the UK, but I'd like to be able to find some information - how hard can it be? Does ICE have the most inept marketing in the world right now?

that's why you should order from Amazon.com.uk (I think that's rthe right adress... basically from the UK-based filial of Amazon), b/c they get those books as soon as they come out in the UK.

Yep, but I put that off because I thought it was going to be released in the US and I could save money by avoiding overseas postage/delivery, and the foreign currency translation charge on my credit card....but evidently I will just have to suck it up and order from there instead. This sucks.

Anyone know if there is a solid date set yet for publication of this book, whether in the UK/Canada or the US? Will it be released in hardcover format first or simultaneous hardcover and trade paperback form?

I beleive that it will come out in late 2009, but dont quote me on it.

The Tor hardcover and trade paperback editions of NoK were both published on 5/12/09. According to Amazon, the mass market paperback is slated for 12/1/09. I imagine the publishing schedule for RotCG would be similar, but Amazon doesn't show any listings for yet.

Me, I've taken to ordering the MMPBs from Amazon.co.uk. I'm excited to get my hands on RotCG in about 3 weeks!

If you don't want to wait for the US version, and you don't want to pay for overseas shipping (which more than doubles the price of a MMPB) another option is to check AbeBooks a few months after the book's release. I think I paid about $25 for the MMPB of NoK from Amazon.co.uk, and a couple months later saw used copies on AbeBooks for half of that.

It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

WTF?! I just got a notification from Amazon.co.uk saying the MMPB of RotCG has been cancelled, and my pre-order refunded. The book's page now says "sign up to be notified when this item becomes available". Frick, I was looking forward to finally reading this in 3 weeks.

Don't use Amazon for these kinds of book purchases. Go to you local professional bookstore and have them order it for you. You'll have it in a week or two tops or there's something seriously wrong with country you're living in.

You live in Minn? I live in NY. I just looked at Amazon and it has four books to sell on "RotCG"
Two in the $40 range; two in the $14 range

Yeah, there's lots of places I can get it, but I wanted the MMPB.

U guys figure the prologue to stonewielder might be in the book? Maybe it's why they've postponed the release till ICE gets it edited and stuff?

That could very well be. In fact, I hope that's the case.
