That's interesting, since it is some time since you won anything beyond nhl...

Look Gem, I'm all for the WC, but the Stanley Cup is far more important and prestigious to the WC.

the thing being that most international competition teams are together for a long time. most us based teams are a collection of professionals. this is the same for any sport we compete in internationally, as international acclaim isnt what we put the most value in. this is why we won in 1980, we used a team of amateur players and kept them together for a long time to build teamwork yadda yadda yadda

I think we have a fair chance at the gold in the WC hockey, Gem. But I think Russia will grab it this year. Or maybe Canada, I haven't seen their games this year but they always have a good team. Though they haven't made a very strong impression so far. The US doesn't have the quality players needed to be a competitor in international ice-hockey today.

I'm hoping for Ottawa and Detroit in the Stanley cup final, with Detroit standing victorious after seven games. Go Lidas, Zäta och Holmström m.fl.! :)

As long as Buffalo doesn't win I'll be fairly happy though.

I am a longtime fan of Finland actually, always underdog, but surprising at times.

While i'm happy that Team Canada won it again, i have to note that if the Sens were any more on fire, there would be a smoking crater in eastern Ontario. That sound you hear is the entire city of Ottawa stepping out of the Heimlich position and onto the bandwagon.

- Abyss, The Sabres were clumsy and the ice was slippery.

I wish I was back home right now to see the mood in Ottawa. Must be something else.

If they make it to the finals, I may go back home just to see the atmosphere.

Okay, I was heart broken the other night but I can take some comfort that even though the wings are out they did thrash the Ducks 5-0 on the way there.

All I have left to say is go Ottowa (not bitter oh no not I)

Holy.
Fnck.

Sens are in the finals.

That sound you now hear is an entire city so giddy it's not knowing what to do with its collective self.

- Abyss, said it once, will say it again.... "We will skate in the shade."

Ha! Suck it, Wings!

Now a Duck/Sens final. Could be very interesting. I think the Sens are the better team but the Ducks seem to be rather lucky this playoff run and Giguere is on a hot streak.

Sens haven't played against a powerful defense yet in the playoffs.. they'll get a dose of pronger/niedermayer/george "care to fight? i'll stab you with the end of my mustache" parros.. going to be brutal
