interesting. the illustrations and color seem different.. the poster looks more like a watercolor type and the comics seem too lightly detailed for what i remember from the roaring studios comics

Paladin my friend, the cover was drawn by Leinil Yu. As for the feel of the book, once the colors are placed over the pencils, everything will come together :)

Liked the Hedge Knight GN, tho i am afraid i'm firmly in the wait-for-the-collected-GN camp. I understand the economic reasons for doing monthlies/floppies first, but i find the format just too... weak, for lack of a better word.

- Abyss, outgrew his floppy days. and no, that's not a double-entendre.

Hey all, this is Robert from Fantasy Book Critic. Had a chance to interview Ernst & Les from Dabel Brothers Productions and just wanted to share it with you. I think fans of comic books as well as fantasy/SF/horror literature will appreciate it. Here's an excerpt:

"As a child I grew up with comic books, namely Spider-Man, Batman, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and so on. As I grew older, I became more of a collector, especially during the early years of the Image Comics era. Then, I just kind of got burnt out and stopped reading/collecting comic books altogether. Having turned my attentions mainly to fantasy novels, such as the enthralling world of George R. R. Martin?s ?A Song of Ice & Fire? series, I was immediately intrigued by an adaptation of GRRM?s short story ?The Hedge Knight?, which was coming out via a little known company called Dabel Brothers Productions. Not only did that comic book blow me away, but it rekindled my love for comics, which, in my opinion, has vastly changed for the better. Since then, I have diligently followed the Dabel Brothers who have done a tremendous job of bringing to life the works of such notable authors as Robert Jordan, Raymond E. Feist, Robert Silverberg, Tad Williams, Orson Scott Card, Laurell K. Hamilton and more."

You can read the full interview HERE. Thanks and much love & respect.

Robert

Hi my friends, how are you? I just wanted to let you all know that there will be a slight change in our “Westeros Wednesday” promotion, and knowing me, you know it’s going to be good :)

Imagine this, opening up one of our comics and seeing yourself standing in the world of Westeros, or Midkemia, or being a vampire within the world of Anita Blake, yep, I think you’ve guessed it, all summer long we’ll be hosting a contest where if you win, instead of winning just a sword, you’ll get to appear in a future Dabel Brothers fantasy title as a character!

We’ve all done it, dressed up as our favorite comic book character. But how many of us can tell our friends that we’ve appeared in a comic book, especially when it’s a book from a company like Dabel Brothers Productions?

We’ll have all the details up for you on Westeros Wednesday (June 20th, 2007) on our website or at participating comic book retailers. And please, DO stop by your local comic shop and tell them to sign up so they’ll have the cool things we’ll be providing for launch day!
