Has to be Baudin, tragedy, sacrifice, the perfect anti-hero.

I like Gesler and Stormy. And I like Baudin, and Coltaine. All of them, Kulp as well.
But I hate Mallick.
Get to the chopper!

Whoah that's a really old dead thread come back to life. This might have to be moved to the DG forum, there's no poll.

I recently reread DG and I was surprised by how angry I got with Duiker midthrough the book.

Everything that happened seemed to surprise the Veteran Historian. His pessimism can of course be held accountable but generally I think SE sort of ruined Duiker because he was using the historians POV to surprise the reader or keep him in suspence.

That said the sappers and the crew of the Silanda had me grinning all the way through. Also the Wickans dark mood and humor was entertaining

The Chain of Dogs was the Malazan 7th army along with Coltaine's Wickans plus Duiker who travelled across part of the Seven Cities continient while being followed by the rebel army.

Mallik and Baudin were in DHG but not part of the group. I imagine people were thinking it was a favorite DHG char thread as seen below:

As far as the Chain of Dogs(I'm going to exclude Duiker), I liked Bult alot, Sormo E'nath was interesting too. On my second read through I also found Duiker annoyed me a little for the same reasons as Apt.

the chain itself as an overall charater is my favourite.

Actually, I liked that Duiker was so surprised all the time. He had given up all hope and lost interest, and was merely marching because that's what he knew how to do.

Anyway. I loved Captain Lull.

I like Bult, he adds a little bit of humour and his non-nonsense attitude is cool.
