In HoC in one of Crokus' chapters, he's speaking with Cotillion (on second thought maybe it was one of Kalam's chapters) but anyways, whoever is speaking thinks to himself that Cotillion was present at the Chaining of the Crippled God. How does this work? I thought that was thousands of years ago, and Dancer ascended not too long ago in the timeline.
I've also picked up hints that the Emporer was long lived, not that I can point out anything specific right now. But can anyone explain this for me since I can't seem to get it? <_<

Simple. Lots of chainings:)
Theres lots of stuff discussed about that - I'm sure someone will point you in the direction of appropriate threads soon enough.
As for ages... well, all mages live stupidly long - plus, being part of the "old guard" has some definate ageing benefits:)

Take a look at the GotM prologue.
"96th Year of the Malazan Empire
The Last Year of Emperor Kellanved's Reign"
So if we make the extremely conservative estimate that Kellanved was 30 when the Empire was founded, then he was at least 126 when he "died".
Remember Tattersail was around 200, and Calot was 100+. Mages live to long ages. And living in the Deadhouse made a difference too, as Admiral Nok notes in HoC.

From what Kruppe says about the Chaining (in MOI, I believe) - how everyone and his grandmother is in the list of contributors - the list he is referring too has every person involved in every Chaining in the same list, adding to the confusion. And the mere fact that there was a Chaining so recently that Cotillion (or even just Dancer) was involved, and the CG is still causing havoc, should have been a big red flag for all those involved that the Chainings are losing their efficiency. A more permanent solution is needed, but is it possible?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I think the scene takes place in GoTM in chapter twelve. At least the foundations for what Kruppe made comment on is probably present in this chapter, which starts in Mammot's study.
It is peculiar that Cotillion(/Dancer) was involved in the last chaining of the Crippled God, because it is extremely recent (in the last ten-twenty years). I thought Kruppe was joking about his grandmother being involved however. 'From this account he half expected to see his grandmother's name among those listed' It's one of those conjectural things, it could be meant either way. It depends on Kruppe's (or SE's) sense of humour i guess.
