Actually, the PoH was a means to become a god, ie: 'ascend' from 'mere' shapeshifter to god of them.
And the exact definition of ascension is so wide open and the term used, in the books, so many different ways, that one can't really apply any hard/fast rule to clarify. My theory runs that it simply means to move beyond the basic power level of your race/type/whatever. So while a soletaken is an ascendant, relative to any normal human, it could 'ascend' to be d'ivers, or to be a god a la Trake, or both.
- Abyss, likes to 'use' quotation 'marks', whenever 'possible'.

Oh yeah...thanks 'Byss.
The soletaken godhood thing must be pretty powerful if they're willing to destroy each other for it. The Jheck seemed to think that by reuniting themselces with their god, they's had been able to extinguish even the Edur.

Back to the topic, it doesn't seem that the CG will be part of RG. At least, they're not past of the Dramatis Personae.
There is a mention of exactly where Iron Bars and the rest of the gang were dropped, which was a bit surprising. It's not a spoiler, as I guess it's kind of an indication of where ICE might be going with RotCG, but I will not reveal that location. Unless you guys really want to know. As I said, it's not a big secret, not even a little!

Didn't Kilava kill her entire clan the very night that the painting was done or something? I seem to recall having an impression that she wasn't even aware of the painting at the time. Think it was in HoC where they elaborated on this from the Whirlwind goddess' recollections and thoughts towards the end....when she was recounting Onrack's betrayal.
Nah, Kilava came in and had sex with Onrack before the slaughtering began, IIRC.

How about we stick with a convention:
"CG" for Crippled/Chained God.
"CGrd" for Crimson Guard.
Because it gets a bit confusing when you use "CG" for both.

Onrack was a semi-Bonecaster, no? If so, he likely had some latent power that allowed him to make Kilava immortal. Besides, it mentioned he truly loved her, and that passion getting paired up with some taboo painting could've caused her immortality. He painted her as he saw her, and likely always would see her, and those thoughts maybe had an effect.
Or you know, some EG we don't know decided to make her immortal cause Kilava is an important character.

'fraid not. Onrack muses on whether or not it was the dried blood of her clan that flaked off of Kilava's hands in the dark.
Dolorous, here here. The use of CG and CGrd will save a few drunken headaches, methinks.

Yes. Or CG for Crippled God, and 'Crimson Guard' being typed out fully, since they are a minor entity, plotwise.
This isn't sms or msn

Hopefully we can get CG/CGrd as popular as AnasToc for the new Toc. Or SE could pick names that convert to anacronyms which aren't so similar.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Just let me know how the spoiler function can be activated and I'll tell you guys. Since it's not a "true" spoiler, I guess no harm will come of my disclosure.
