Sorry, Aptorian; I don't want to post a sample of it yet. :-) I think it'll work better and get more listeners (and comments) when the full file is posted. :-) Transworld and Random House are also itching to hear what we've done, so hopefully it'll cause a conversation-flood that will lead to a proper, professional recording being made. :-)

Hey everyone, I was thinking (yes, it does happen): in case the 11 and a half minute excerpt isn't approved by Transworld or I struggle to get it paired down to ten minutes, is there a scene of the required length that you think would make a better audio excerpt than the prologue? I just thought of using the prologue because I feel it'll be a good place to start, but considering that everyone Googling for SE Malazan Audio Books is probably a fan already, it wouldn't really matter what section was chosen to be recorded.

So please give me your thoughts. :-)

Also, I didn't post this as a topic because it's not a question for the SE or ICE (though damn, wouldn't I welcome their input, too!) and the original audio book thread began here.

Its hard to know what would take less than ten minutes to record. I think the prologue is a good place to start though, any chance of speeding through any pauses to shorted in? I think this is a great idea. Long drives would be whittled away to nothing listening to the melodic tones of Malazan Marines cursing and destroying.

I await the Tehol Bugg scenes eagerly

Thanks for replying TL, ye I agree, thought I'd throw it out there and see what the opinions are.:-)
Hopefully it gets a good reception, and even if it doesn't, I tried, and my blog will get major traffic! But who knows, if it does well, Transworld may just commission an official recording! That would be awesome, and then Tehol could be heard in all his glory! :-)

Hey all, I'll be doing the final tweaks and edits for the audio excerpt and will have it ready to post within the next week or two. I've got to cut about a minute and thirty seconds from the file to get it to ten minutes, and the publishers were closed over the December period, so I'm putting the finishing touches on it now. :-)

Thanks for the interest and the support!

I'm glad to hear things have come so far Evad! You must be doing some really great work to have progressed to this point. It's a shame the publisher's are being so firm about the whole ten minute thing. I know you mentioned before it was causing some grief as far as the reading and timing were concerned. Hopefully they wil be really pleased with this initial ten minutes and give you premission to record more. I look forward to hearing it! Make sure you let us know when it's available for a listen!

Hey Tehol, thanks for the support! :-) I'll post here again and let everyone know exactly when the audio will be up. I'll have to put in a link to my blog (that's where the audio will be) but it will be there. :-) Yes hopefully Transworld gets someone to do audio books of the entire series - whether its me or not. :-)

Cheers :-)

I don't know about that. :-) But here's one thing I can tell you - hopefully, there will be music, too, and if this guy's previous work is anything to go by, we will all have our first Malazan Theme music! Will keep you all updated - it's almost ready to publish! :-)

Hey everyone, the audio excerpt has been posted and is ready for all of you to listen to. :-) Please just keep in mind that I'm not a professional by any stretch of the word - I'm just a fan who used my own equipment, so before I get major critics on my case, please remember that. My only hope is that what I've done generates enough interest so that a professional job will get done and we can get unabridged recordings of all the books. :-) Okay, when you follow the link and get into my blog, the file will be in the right-hand column, right and the end; it's a blue box - just click play and you'll be on your way. Feel free to comment and give me feedback! If I can do something like this again, it'll be great to hear your thoughts and work off that to improve the next project (if there is one).

Thanks for the support!
